It’s a common path; Play violin. Hear Grappelli. Get into Jazz Etc etc Interested to hear people’s paths that differ from this to some degree. I’d say I fall pretty much into the Grappelli camp but have ended up all over the place now when it comes to the styles I play and listen to.
I'm coming to this from converging paths and interests: learning violin and enjoying Adam Nealy's content that includes jazz (granted he plays bass). And oddly enough, Sesame Street lol. Sounds odd but I have a 5yo and "doing the batty bat" (a klezmer Sesame Street song) came on as we were watching music on YouTube. Klezmer > gypsy jazz > merges with Adam Nealy interest and here I am, one YouTube short later
