"What actually *is* inflammation?" Comprehensive Analysis of what *it* is - and how the Vagus Nerve regulates *it*
Earlier today, Palmer on X asked about Inflammation, what is it really ? And I have this great book, it's called "The Great Nerve" and it's be an inflammation expert named Dr. Kevin Tracey. I'm including highlighted segments from his book addressing that question - so just click through the pictures on here to see what he says. Highly encourage you to buy his book, either physical or on Kindle: https://amzn.to/40s8y7W Summary: Inflammation is essential for healing 🩹 but becomes harmful when chronic, driving diseases like heart disease ❤️🩺, stroke, Alzheimer's, diabetes 🩸 & cancer 🎗️. Vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) 📶 can reduce inflammation, treating conditions from arthritis to depression. Non-invasive tech like ultrasound is rapidly growing. 3 Summary Points: 1. Essential protector ⛑️ turned silent killer ☠️ when chronic. 2. Vagus nerve is inflammation's "off switch" 🔌. 3. Non-invasive VNS (like ultrasound 📡) is the future 🚀. Ultrasound Bullets: - Rapidly growing non-invasive VNS intervention. - Focused ultrasound harnesses vagus nerve's anti-inflammatory power. - Goal: Accessible treatment without implants. I encourage you to browse through the pictures and highlights from the book, you will find some fascinating tidbits about what Inflammation *is* more through those. Thanks for reading ! Additionally, if you too believe you are experience a "dysregulation" of inflammation in your body, and you want to try some form of "VNS" - without resorting to taking "drugs" - then I would highly recommend you explore some of the Course Modules we have available here on Skool.com/vagus Our Easily accessible Classroom module here: https://www.skool.com/vagus/classroom/4d7222e2?md=84dd1b644b3f4b398e79861564632b31 Will cover cover the two "best" options in my eyes: Electrical and Ultrasound VNS. Also, if you do decide to pursue either, we recommend you of course make a free account here on Skool.

@Mindy Mastruserio Hello, Mindy. I sometimes still have insomnia if I do US later in the day so I try to do it in the morning. Has your sleep improved?

@Mindy Mastruserio This US seems quite powerful. Amazing, really. Glad you’re sleeping better.
Stimulating the cerebrum?
Melissa rose mentioned this in a recent post on X. Thoughts?

I’ve found her X posts intriguing. They are what brought me to Vagus Skool. She does seem to be getting astonishing results.

@Sterling Cooley Yeah, this is where I think I’ll start bec Long Covid does seem to involve a brain injury. Thank you for helping me get my points to open level 2. I’m off to vagal ultrasound skool!
Background About ME! And How I Got Into All This "Vagus" Stuff
Hi !!! I'm Sterling, and I know more than a few things about the Vagus Nerve, and especially how to stimulate it - both with breathing, drugs, nutrition, neck exercises, electricity, and Ultrasound. Back in 2018 I started a Facebook group, and by 2019 it had ballooned into 5000 members! A totally free to join group, and I posted in there every. single. day. But why? Because I was incredibly passionate about talking about and learning and sharing knowledge related to the Vagus Nerve. It all started in 2017, when I was learning about HRV (Heart Rate Variability) - and doing Wim Hof breathing, and as usual, developing Ultrasound technology (my former startup is called Berkeley Ultrasound, Inc. we are a venture capital funded group, look me up!) So I thought, "What if I placed the Ultrasound on my Vagus Nerve, while doing Wim Hof Breathing, and was tracking my HRV with my chest worn sensor... could I make my HRV go up higher than usual ?" Naturally, I thought it wouldn't be hard to test, so I placed my nearby Ultrasound handheld device (A US-1000 3rd Edition Ultrasound) on the highest setting (Red) on the left side of my neck, and started the typical Wim Hof 30 breaths thing. By the third round of breathing, I started to feel buzzy and tingly all over my entire body, this was different than usual... hmm, but I did the last inhale, hold, and SQUEEZE!!! And poof! I was no longer looking at the ceiling of my office (I was just laying on the carpet with a pillow looking up) but I saw *All White Around Me*... Then before I could even acknowledge what this white room was exactly - WHOOSH! Again I was no longer looking at a white room, but a crystal clear picture of New York Central Park, broad day, summertime, people walking around, I could hear the taxis in the distance, I could hear multiple simultaneous conversations happening around me... this just lasted for multiple minutes, it was very normal to be looking out of someone else eyes in New York Central Park for some reason.

This experience sounds wild! I’m just looking for better health, not an out of body experience. But still…wow!!!

@Sterling Cooley So am I… and that you’re bringing so many of us along with you. BTW, Melissa Rose is a great ambassador for you over on X. I knew about your skool but I might not have checked it out if it hadn’t been for her enthusiasm.
Let's Get You to Level 2 !!!
Skool works by you getting Level-Up's when you post a Comment (Engagement is important! haha) And when another person Likes *YOUR* Comment. So, below, write a comment about your Favorite way you like to Relax and Feel a Sense of Calm (Pictures of something soothing help a lot, and you can also add a GIF) Comments should be of a quality that people *WANT* to click "LIKE!" And do others a favor by clicking LIKE so they too can level up. When you get more points, Level 2 Opens up and then you will get instant access to all of the prized ULTRASOUND Modules !! Ooh la la !

The beach: waves, gulls, sea breeze. Really, any moving water: a river, a waterfall. What is it about water? Also, massage therapy.

@Sterling Cooley Ha! I’m convinced there’s something magical about water!
Breathing Tips
I've been practicing some of the breathing exercises in 5-minute blocks for about a week. I feel like I'm doing something incorrectly because I'm not feeling calmer at the end of the exercise. My pulse is always quite high. I measure my pulse before and after the breathing exercises and it hardly ever lowers after the exercise (sometimes it even increases!). I've primarily been using the resonant breathing and box breathing techniques. Anyone have a tip to help me relax more during the breathing exercises and make them more effective for me?

I’ve noticed this myself and I’ve heard others complain of the same. My own solution is to take in less air. I still move my diaphragm but some of that movement is intentional and not from a big breath. Really deep breathing is more effort and seems counterproductive to relaxing. I hope this makes sense.

@Kim Mac I hope gentler breaths help!
