Great group tonight🤩
Small crew but mighty! Lynn and I had a great chat and talked about somatic breathing and all the things. Something we can all relate to is trying something new that we're excited about and for whatever reason, the "thing" or class or whatever it is, just doesn't vibe. I've personally experienced this many times as well. I recall going to a yoga class years ago that was highly recommended by a friend of mine. During the class I caught myself thinking "what, really?". The instructors words didn't resonate with me and I left kinda disappointed to say the least. But, and this is probably the most important thing. I tried another class later and loved the instructors style and flow. She set the space in a way that felt right to my nervous system, so nothing felt forced. My mind was able to chill and it was a great experience. So, something I heard once about food is to try things 3 times because often on the 3rd time a switch can flip. Maybe it's the environment you try it in, your age, taste buds current phase etc. Maybe life is kinda like that. It's a bummer when you spend time and money on an experience and it just doesn't hit, but/and if you keep trying, try another bite, class, another teacher etc, it's got a much higher chance. It definitely won't if you don't try. And there are some things...black licorice, oysters, and heavy metal for me...that will never be my thing, and that's OK!😂 Anybody had this happen. How did it work out, if at all? Feel free to share!

It was a great chat! And for anyone who is hesitating joining the live calls, follow Rachel’s suggestion in this post: Give it a try! Rachel and Izabella are so welcoming. You might just find out you like the vibe.
*Just Added for tonight*
My gratitude session for this month fell off the calendar! But I will be there. And I hope you will join me. I've added my recurring session to the calendar and the link is posted under the event. See you tonight at 5 pm EST!

Sunday Check in (and fascinating somatic fact!)
Hey party people, We had a crew for last weeks live, and one of the same things came up today in our virtual session that I wanted to share here. It's a favorite nervous system reminder : an emotion doesn't need to be "fixed", it needs to be felt. Here's where it gets interesting - Neuroanatomist Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor describes the initial physiological wave of an emotion as roughly 90 seconds when we allow ourselves to experience it without re-triggering the story or avoiding/pushing it back down. 90 Seconds...what?!? 🤯 The first thing I thought upon learning this was how many seconds, days, years, decades have I actually spent avoiding my feelings?! And if we learn to stay with them, they actually move out on their own and we can change our story? just, wow. So, there we have it. It's hard to sit with a heated emotion , so when I find myself there, I take a breath. Maybe I'll start with 5 seconds. Meet yourself where you're at and build slowly. It's really wild. Want to nerd out on the 90 second idea? Dr. Jill breaks it down here in this 3 min video. https://youtu.be/-qwIjbtUmaE?si=i9U_Bd8DMMHP6G2U

Fascinating! Great take on it too, Rachel, with starting with seconds.
