Bad customer
Just delt with the worst customer I’ve ever had. Wrote out an estimate for 2 men 16 hours. We were pulling honey suckle vines that had been left on a boxwood row about 200 ft for over 5 years. Then had to prune a lot of dead out of a fig tree. After me and my helper worked for 4.5 hours client came out and was telling me I wasn’t going to finsh today I could come back and I said ma’am we are already done with the box wood we are headed to the fig tree now there’s no way I don’t finish today. Well she then tells me that we agreed to weed another Shrub that was about 15ft high and 30ft in width. I said No ma’am I have the estimate you clicked Agree on right here this wasn’t quoted. I would have to raise the price $200 for that. Well she said she wasn’t going to pay that to stop what I was doing and she would pay me $300 for 4 hours of work when the job was for $1,200 I said that’s 75 and Hr for me not $75 per man like we agreed. So I packed up my Tools and left. Moral of this post is Always get a signed Contract on Top of the accepted Estimate. Some “Karen’s” will expect us to give them a premium service for little to nothing.

@Anthony Rogers that Karen sounds like she needs to go back to bed and wake up and reread y’all’s agreement. Everyone around these days always trying to get down on someone not understanding that we all are going through something. Sorry you experienced that. We had someone do something like that at the beginning of the business and it was funny. Bethani said okay and dumps the yard waste back in the ground after she got paid. Basically it was like two can play at that game Karen. She ended up calling the police and was flabbergasted when she learned she was in the wrong. Look up told her when you agreed to a service you fulfill that agreement or your subject to the consequences and that was you now have to take care of your own yard waste yard ways. Recycling is not cheap around here for some people. we have a compost pile that most of our yard waste goes into overtime. It breaks down we reuse that on jobs that need that type of fertilization. Cuts down on how much we pay out. @Stuart Clifford, here you have to get permission from anyone that’s being recorded or it becomes a wiretap which is illegal. Now on the other hand, fixed business get by because they have have a plaque hanging up saying this property is under audio surveillance video is okay as long as there is no sound. It gets very tricky and messy fast if you don’t understand the laws. We don’t fully understand the laws for that here so we just don’t do it.

@Anthony Rogers yea that is understandable why you didn’t put everything back. Bad word of mouth travels faster than good.
🤖 I'm building a Google Business Profile Review Robot. (Android only)
I have been testing this for a couple of weeks with my own business, and it works really well. It goes through your client list and asks for reviews. Automatically. Here's how it runs: ✅ One request a day. We want to keep the growth natural. ✅ When you get a review, it sleeps for 7 to 21 days (you decide), then starts again. ✅ If someone gets asked and doesn't leave one, they won't hear from it again for 90 to 180 days (you decide.) So your reviews keep growing in the background, and nobody gets annoyed. More reviews, more calls. Reviews are one of the biggest things that rank your Google Business Profile. I want a few beta testers before I roll it out wider. 👇 Join the $9 a month plan and mention the robot when you sign up. I'll set you up. I am only taking on three beta testers this week, so first in, first served.

This sounds very cool. We might be interested in being a tester.

I tried to leave a review but it tells me only ones that are paying can leave a review. Am I going to the correct place or is that correct?

@Stuart Clifford that’s a real bummer. Oh well it is what it is.
🌱 Emma-Jane’s brand-new website is officially live!
Last month, Emma-Jane won our Premium Plan draw—scoring a free custom website build hosted for the life of her membership. All she had to do was send over her business name, coverage areas, services, and a few job photos. 🌐 Take a look: https://bloomingfantastic.co.nz/ 📍 Targeted for local SEO: Every page is written specifically for her area and services, making her the top result when locals in the Bay of Plenty Google lawn mowing. 💼 Built for real business: It’s hosted on her own domain, looks professional, and sends lead forms directly to her inbox. That means actual booked jobs, not just social media likes. Here are a few details worth knowing: 🎟️ Crazy good odds: Only four people were in last month's draw, giving Emma-Jane a 1-in-4 shot for just $9. Join the next draw here: https://www.skool.com/lawnmowing101/plans 🗓️ Next draw coming up: This month's winner gets drawn at the end of September. Sign up for the $9 premium plan before then to get your name in the hat. 🏆 Two chances to win every month: One draw for the top 30-day leaderboard contributors (posting, commenting, and helping out) and one for premium members. Win either to get a free website build or a complete SEO package if you already have a site. 🛠️ Zero tech skills required: Simply send me your business name, area, services, and a handful of photos—I handle the entire build for you. 🙌 Drop a comment and let us know what you think of the final result!
