What's the most boring job you still do by hand every week? 😴
Not the mowing. The other stuff. The job you put off every week. Mine was asking customers for Google reviews. So I built a robot to do it for me. It sends one review request a day to someone on my client list. So far it has sent 16 texts and got me 4 new reviews. I've gone from 87 to 91 Google reviews. The boring jobs are the ones worth fixing first. What's yours? Invoicing, chasing payments, texting customers when it rains? Drop it below 👇 If a few of you say the same one, I'll look at building the fix.

🏆 Shout-out to Matthew Dixon
@Matthew Dixon I asked what you charged for your last one-off mow. Matthew answered with a number and a photo: $80, done the same day. That's the right way to price an overgrown one-off. Charge for the mess, not just the mow. 💪 What's the worst lawn you've quoted this year? Drop the price below 👇

@Matthew Dixon That's how a one-off turns into a regular 😉 Did they book you in again?

@Matthew Dixon Ha, the classic "I'll call you when I need you" 😅 That's why one-offs pay one-off rates. Next time ask before you leave: "Want me to put you on every 2 or 3 weeks?" The worst they can say is no.

On 21 October, PHP put out an emergency security fix. PHP is what WordPress runs on. The flaw lets someone break into a site without a password. Attacks started the same day. Updating WordPress won't fix it. Your host has to update PHP. ✅ On WordPress? Message your host and ask: "Has PHP been patched for the 21 October security update?" ✅ Got a yes? You're sorted. I moved lawnmowing101.com off WordPress a month ago. It's a plain static site now, and so is every lawn site I build. No PHP, so this one can't touch them. 🔒 📸 Screenshot below: my own lawn business site, Gecko Lawns, and a house washing website I built. Static, no PHP, nothing to patch. Not sure what your site runs on? Drop your link below and I'll check it for you 👇

@Henry Steinke You're sorted. 🔒 No WordPress, no PHP, so this flaw can't touch any of my websites. There's nothing for you to do.

What did you charge for your last one-off mow? 💸
Just the number. No need to explain it. Mine: $60. That's my minimum for a one-off. Drop yours below 👇

@Matthew Dixon $80, good on you. That one looks like a jungle. Is $80 your overgrown price or your normal one-off?

@Anthony Rogers $250 for 2 hours is just over $2 a minute 💪 That's how you price a field.
"Am I leaving money on the table, or undercutting?" 💸
Saw this in the group this week. Most guys answer it by checking what the other guy charges. That's backwards. Start with your own numbers. Say you want $2,000 a week. Half of that goes on running costs. Fuel, maintenance, tax, and gear. So you take home $1,000. $2,000 over a 40-hour week is $50 an hour. But you won't mow 40 hours. There's driving, quoting, fuelling up, changing blades, and fixing stuff. You'll be lucky to get 6.5 hours of actual mowing in a day. So you need $60 an hour just to hit the number. That's why I would recommend that you quote at least $1 a minute. 🕐 Guess the time, then multiply. 30 minutes lawn = $30. Then add hills, trees, catching, and mess. ⏱️ Time the first mow. If it keeps taking longer than you quoted, put the price up. 🚫 Have a minimum. Mine is $35 for a regular mow and $60 for a one-off. If they say no, you've saved yourself the drive. 🗣️ Say it like you mean it. Give the price, then stop talking. Most people are fine with your price if you are. You're running a business, not a charity. What do you charge per minute? Have you worked it out, or are you going off the guy down the road?

@Henry Steinke That's the idea. As you fill up, charge more.
