I'm late to posting here! My name is Kristi Davis. I'm the Elementary Coordinator at King Street Church in Chambersburg, PA. I've been serving in kids ministry since I was in middle school! My husband and I have 4 kids. They are 15, 18, 19 and 21. Our 19 year old we were blessed to be able to adopt through foster care. 💜 We also have 5 dogs. 🙃 I asked for a tiny goat too, but hubby said no. 🐐 Even though I've been in kids ministry a long time there is still always something to learn!! Looking forward to these next several weeks with you all.
What is on your Summer planning to-do list THIS WEEK!
Hello! I know we are full steam ahead to Easter, but one way we can avoid the summer planning burnout is by starting small and starting early. SO...what is on your to-do list this week? Our team has a meeting on the calendar for next week, but right now I am in the beginning phases of planning a Summer home discipleship curriculum to go along with our Kids Camp!

Question about check out / pick up
We use Planning Center and name tags, check-in, etc. works great for check-in. But, tactically, how do folks do their "check outs" of each classroom when parents come to pick up? We have 4 classrooms and parents come for pick up before the service ends right before communion (so parents are trying to quickly pick up the kids to get everyone back into the service). We are a smaller church so our volunteers rotate weekly (most of the time serving ~once a month). Do you have parents show their sticker? Do you have kids line up and call them only after sticker identification? Do they turn them in? Very curious about how to make our checkout process of each classroom efficient but also appropriately safe.

We use Kid Check, but at our Sunday services we collect tags as kids are picked up. If they have siblings in other areas we confirm the number and let them keep the tag. For our Wednesday night program we still collect tags, but with our format for that program we call names of kids as parents come for pick up. At a camp I help direct in the summer we collect tags and the kids like to see how big our pick up tag "ball" can get. haha
