A few IWCs on the wrist, and a Breitling, or an Explorer?
I dropped by the local IWC boutique in Tampa to see if they had any of the new additions from Watches and Wonders. Then I stepped next door to the Breitling shop, and finished up at Mayors to see the Rolex’s. First, the new blue Ingenieur Perpetual Calendar. Compared to the standard version it’s much thicker (to make room for the complication). It’s a beautiful watch that pays homage to two titans of the watch making world—Gerald Genta and Kurt Klaus. There’s a lot of innovation and technology on your wrist, but it’s three times the price of the basic version. I do still like the white face version, picking a color is a difficult choice. In person the new 35mm versions were quite nice and not undersized on my wrist. At the Breitling shop I looked at the new B31Top Time. The blue dial, in person, is absolutely stunning. It’s stiff competition for the IWC Mark XX. I did want to see the white face version on the leather strap, but they were sold out, saying its the hottest seller. Lastly, at Mayors the Land Dweller was no where to be seen. I put my name on the Explorer “Registry of Interest” wait list. A man can dream a little. What would you pick?
