Welcome to Takedown U — Introduce Yourself
Drop an intro so we can all get to know you. Answer these 5 questions: 1. What’s your name + where do you train? 2. How long have you been doing jiu-jitsu? 3. How confident do you feel with takedowns right now (1–10)? 4. What’s the biggest thing you struggle with on the feet?(stance, shots, getting sprawled on, fear of shooting, etc.) 5. What’s one takedown or skill you really want to learn? Optional:Post a training goal for the next 30 days.

1. Name & Location: Kirk, I train out of Henshall's BJJ in UK. 2. Training: About 18 months (inlcuding 6 months completely out due to a destroyed ankle!) 3. Confidence level: 3/10 4. Struggles: Shots, dealing with double-overhooks; plus a general fear of enaging because I don't wanna land funny and break something. 5. Takedown/skill I really want to learn: I'm 35 and I can't shoot like the younger lads, I wanna improve them to have them in my locker... but what I want is basically the confidence to engage fearlessly in stand-up and to have 2-3 moves I can learn to execute with great effect even for an older and less experienced grappler like me; I'm thinking arm drags, duck unders, throw bys, and footsweeps, all resulting in a secured takedown.
