Setup guide. Best practices for creating your YouTube channel, maybe with a checklist.

@Woody Hill I did not view that yet, as I am currently focused on getting up to speed on LinkedIn. YouTube is next.
✅ 7 Habits of Highly Effective YouTubers
A Stephen Covey–Style Framework for NewTubers 1. Be Proactive → Be a Creator, Not a Consumer Highly effective YouTubers don’t wait for ideas or perfect conditions. They take initiative: • Create before you feel ready • Publish even when it’s imperfect • Learn by doing, not planning forever • Resist getting stuck binge-watching other creators • Join Skool communities like the NewTubers YouTube Collective 👉 NewTubers YouTube Collective https://tinyurl.com/NewTubers-YouTube-Collective (Great job if you’re already here!) Mantra: “I don’t wait for motivation — I create momentum.” ⸻ 2. Begin With the End in Mind → Know the Channel You’re Trying to Build Before you make videos, be clear on: • Who you want to serve • What your channel helps them achieve • What transformation your content creates • What value your channel will be known for in 1–2 years This gives you a true north, so you stop pivoting randomly. Mantra: “Every video is a brick in the channel I’m building.” ⸻ 3. Put First Things First → Focus on Inputs, Not Outcomes New YouTubers get overwhelmed by: • Sub count • Views • Analytics • Monetization Effective creators focus on what they control: • Publishing consistently • Improving titles & thumbnails • Increasing watch time • Making better hooks • Studying audience retention Mantra: “I prioritize creation and improvement — the algorithm will follow.” ⸻ 4. Think Win-Win → Make Every Video a Deal Between You and the Viewer Your video succeeds only if both parties win: • Viewer wins: They get value, entertainment, clarity, or transformation • You win: You earn watch time, retention, subs, trust Every idea should pass the Win-Win test: • Does this thumbnail promise a benefit viewers actually want? • Does this video respect my viewers’ time? • Am I giving more than I’m asking? Mantra: “If the viewer wins first, I win naturally.” ⸻ 5. Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood → Study Your Audience Before Speaking to Them

@Woody Hill Sounds good. I am one of those consultants who doesn’t fix "pain points," but helps web professionals make their client websites ADA compliant - since ADA is mandated by law. The pain they would feel is if (when) they get sued and have to pay $10,000 to $50,000.

If you are new to making YouTube videos or hoping to start a new channel, you’re in the right place! >>> START HERE IN THE CLASSROOM <<< Being a YouTuber is a lot of fun, but it’s also a lot of work. I’ve been doing it for two years now, and it’s still not easy. Making good YouTube videos isn’t just a skill… it’s a bunch of micro skills. It can be overwhelming… But the good news that it’s all stuff you can learn! I have found that strengthening my YouTuber skills has been super rewarding. And although I’m far from an expert, I created this community for 3 reasons: 1. As a way to help other beginners by sharing what I have learned 2. To have a safe space for NewTubers to bounce ideas around and ask questions 3. To learn from y’all! So welcome, fellow NewTubers! ***FYI: Many of the classroom courses and resources unlock when you reach level 2, or when you join Premium. You increase your level by posting and commenting in the group. When people like what you post/comment, it helps you reach the next rank! It only takes a few “likes” to get to level 2, so introduce yourself and let’s get the conversation started!

@Karen Eddy Not a bad idea, but I want to make my YouTube channel all about accessibility services. I have many things I can share. I just need to finalize my LinkedIn setup.
Mic Check 🎤
How are you recording your audio for your videos? Audio quality is arguably more important than video quality. Our ears are sensitive, and we like things that sound aesthetically pleasing (just ask anyone who’s into ASMR). People will watch a poor quality video with decent or great audio. But let’s say you have 4k crispy video and perfect lighting with terrible audio? I’m clicking away from that video 100% of the time. I have two main mics I use, and both plug directly into my smart phone: For tabletop setup, the Shure MV7+ podcasting mic is my go-to. Excellent sound quality, noise cancellation, and a professional look, all at a reasonable price: https://amzn.to/4nzMguq For all other applications, the DJI Mic Mini is a fantastic choice and comes with two mics for interview style videos: https://amzn.to/4g98TmH (fyi I am an Amazon affiliate and earn from qualifying purchases, always at no additional cost to you) I’m curious to know what your Audio solution is, or if you need help in this department!
