Day 1 (a day late!)
Biggest insight: identifying what is happening when I'm stuck My open loop is: putting the clean laundry away. One word for how I feel right now: reeling. Other thoughts: I didn't really expect much from the AI tool, and I have a lot of concern at how AI is becoming embedded in so much right now, so it was a very big deal for me to try the tool. I'm proud of myself. And the open loop task - hideous! Just ONE open loop???? Several were immediately present and fully formed in my mind...

That is so me as well! First, I have to remember to move the laundry from the washer to the dryer when the it finishes the wash cycle (before it begins to smell!). Then, I have to remember to get the clothes out of the dryer before it stops so they don't wrinkle. Then, I have to make time to fold it, put it back in the laundry basket and put it upstairs and not leave it in or on the dryer. And once it gets upstairs, if I don't have time to put it away right then, I have to make sure to do it later. Arh! So many steps and open loops!

@Grey Hennes Glad you are here today! Go to the classroom tab and click on day one. You can access the video replay and the action steps from there. Don't get discouraged - you can do this!
Transcript of Day 2 - The Invisible Mask
I really wanted to save this transcript, but because of Jim's accent the Zoom transcription was very poor. I put this through ChatGPT so that I could have an accurate copy and I am sharing this with all or you. 😊

@Grey Hennes Such an inspirational life, albeit ingredibl1y hard by the sound of it. Sending you huge hugs Check out these sources https://www.russellbarkley.org/ Russell A. Definitely - my husband didn't "get" ADHD until I showed him one of Russell Barkley's youtube videos talking about how the ADHD brain is different and what the implications are to that. He said that was the most enlightening video to understanding me as someone with ADHD!
Perimenopausal?
Anybody else in perimenopause? I’m 42 and undiagnosed (in both ADHD and menopause lol) but feel like there is no deny it now that my hormones all over the place and the masks have slipped! (Didn’t know I was masking but feel like a really need to get to know myself and be true to myself in this stage of life)

Menopause has very real impacts on your brain - you start to feel like you are going crazy!
I've known this for a long time about myself
Section 2 of the Awakening Assessment just showed me that the little girl who wanted to "melt into" her coloring pages became the adult who's "always, always, always the people pleaser." My dream isn't wild, it's just a camper, my dog, and freedom. And I've been waiting for permission from my own kids to live it.

I can so relate as well. I learned to be a people pleaser to receive love because it was not OK to be the real me. It has only been the last 3 years that I have been encouraged to discover who I truly am.

I discovered I had adult ADHD about 10 years ago; I am finally starting to understand how my brain works!
