Hello everyone
I’ve been running my Military & Outdoor Surplus Store on ebay for the last year and continuing to grow. I use to be a mens clothing and footwear seller and I’m getting the itch back again… question is split focus between the two or solely focus on growing the surplus side?

@Rob Marsden yeah it’s an odd one Rob. In terms of the surplus bits the items such as goretex sets, boots, smocks etc are very winter sided items, very few are summer ie shorts however the asp isn’t there with such items. Which hiking brands are your favourite? I like montane, Rab, Merrell and haglofs - BOLO

@Rob Marsden Rohan is underrated. Merino wool is our niche. Sells great! Unfortunately berghaus got shafted by wholesalers - ARGH! Hahaha great sellers, plenty more out there :)

Footwear outlet stores
I’m thinking of starting out my footwear reselling plan. I’m thinking of buying new/discounted footwear from outlets like sports direct, Nike, adidas etc. I have around 6 outlet stores around 20 mins away. Then reselling them on eBay as I know Vinted doesn’t like new items sold just under retail value/ depending on eBay sold comps. Even if I gain at least £15 profit after fees I would be happy with to start with. Get them in and out is my thought process with it all. Has anyone done this or doing this? Is it any good?

@Luke Parsons in my opinion it all depends what you’re interested in mate. Hiking brands, in-trend brands etc. I would then hone in on 1-3 brands and research their solds on eBay thoroughly! Then sent them up as saved searches on your vinted - you can even put certain sizes or condition in the saved searches then “sort by” most recent. Keep refreshing the page till an item that fits within your parameters comes up for sale. I would stay clear of the monitors - short lived and doesn’t allow you to learn the manual side.

@Luke Parsons I think it’ll be best to stick to one genre while you start then build up mate, better to be a master of one than a student of all at the beginning. I would stay away from what’s trending - more competition but try and lean into a niche which you can research to every inch of its life. While you are starting you’ll win some and lose some mate but I would focus on good margins. If you’re buying for £30 and selling for £40/45 you’ll soon run into cash flow issues. I would start with vinted sniping and more importantly car boots. They are gold mines. In terms of platform, I would use both tbh. More audience, just remember to remove a listing if it’s sold. I wouldn’t set up an eBay store untill you’re buying to make a profit, while you test it out use a private account - no fees and build your store up.

Warehouse lease signed!
Finally got the warehouse lease signed, now we wait for a moving date. Hopefully soon, as we are bursting at the seams in the office space.
