I recently ordered 2 polos from them in the original fit. Got a white and a navy one. Basically as classic as you can get. At 90 bucks each, my expectations were VERY high. What I will say is that they're different with that stiff collar and they do look nice with a blazer/jacket. What I did not anticipate though was them being a HUNDRED percent polyester. They also can't be ironed. They also can't be tumble dried. They're also made in China. I really expected a higher quality fabric (or at least a blend) and I expected they be made in the US, or at least for slightly more than 10 cents in a Chinese sweatshop. Aside from the stiff collar, I don't see what they're bringing to the table that a Ralph Lauren, CK, or other name brand polo isn't and at a third the price (or even less if you're shopping online or at an outlet store). Is it really JUST that stiff collar? Am I missing something?

This post will effectively serve as my official, RMRS review of Collars & Co. Having received a $50 gift card to Collars & Co that was able to be combined with a sale price, I decided to purchase my sixth offering from them. This time - despite my concern that they fail to inform you of the materials on their website - I purchased their flagship Dress Collar Polo. This is the only remaining Collars & Co item in my closet and it will be the last item I purchase from them. How long it remains in my closet has yet to be determined. Issue #1: Supbar Materials This shirt is 100% plastic. I expected it to be largely synthetic but it is, in fact, 100% polyester. I don't care what the marketing copy says, polyester is a thermal insulator and will always wear hotter than cotton unless and until it has soaked up at least 50% of its weight in moisture. Even their mostly-non-synthetic offerings (my previous 5 items from them) were made from subpar materials, in my opinion, exhibited by both the feel of the fabrics plus a higher-than-average tendency to pill. Issue #2: Subpar Manufacturing Almost every single item from them showed a lack of quality in manufacturing - loose stitching, uneven stitching, visible flaws, etc. Even this one has a visible flaw - an unsightly bit of threading on the back where the tag is sewn. Issue #3: "Revolutionary" Collar Their "revolutionary" collar only applies to certain products - as their primarily-cotton polo shirts had a collar that was quite disappointing. The secret to the dress Collar polo is simply cardboard fused into the collar. It makes for an oddly thick and stiff collar - which looks good, admittedly, though at the cost of comfort and care. A shirt that would ordinarily be quite fine with a cycle in the dryer must be hang-, line-, or flat-dried to avoid damaging this revolutionary collar. And is there reinforced stitching around the collar tip and/or removable collar stays to help ensure the collar looks great through years of wear? Of course not.

I stumbled across this brand on Amazon and I'll start by saying that they're CLEARLY a cheap Chinese brand and some poor children are working their fingers bloody in a sweatshop to make this stuff. I get that. Problem is I really like a LOT of the stuff they have to offer and I've ordered several things for the purpose of experimentation and finding out what I like in person and what looks good on me, what combinations I can make, etc. As you can tell from my profile, I'm new to the scene so I'm still figuring things out and spending $100 per shit will take me forever to do said experimenting. With Coofandy, I can get 4 or 5 shirts for that price. Hell I even bought a linen suit from them as well as a couple of sport jackets. Anyway, I'm trying to find out if anyone else has any experience with them and knows about the fabric/build quality and longevity of the garments they sell. So far, they seem almost too good to be true, but maybe I just don't have a discerning eye? Appreciate the help in advance!

"Unique" and "data" are used wrong all the time! I firmly believe that using our words carefully and accurately is a central aspect of being a well-intentioned gentleman. Vocabulary ensures that what we say is accurately understood by our audience (online and in person). Vocabulary is also the single strongest predictor of overall intelligence on standardized intelligence tests (this was my field of research for about a decade). In order to avoid this coming across as elitist, I want to stress that the two guidances below - certainly pet peeves of mine - are words we use every day rather than something only used in rarified academia or by some PhD on a sartorial forum... 🤓 Unique: its simple definition is "one of a kind". This is dichotomous, like a light is on or off. No in between. Therefore, nothing can be "really unique", or "largely unique" or nearly any other modifier applied to it. When something is not one of a kind, we still like "unique" because it sounds stronger than what we should probably say: very rare. It is, however, wrong and inaccurately conveys our intent. The only appropriate modifier for unique is something which clarifies the noun is becoming unique. If only three of something remain in the world and one is destroyed, saying the final two are "nearly unique" is appropriate. Data: this word is ALWAYS a plural. Datum is the word to describe a single piece of data. This is just like saying "this people is funny" when we mean "this person is funny". As a statistician, you can only begin to imagine how much this drives me nuts because of its near omnipresent use. "These data are impressive" may sound weird at first, but it is the only grammatically appropriate way to say it. I hope this was helpful and not pedantic!
