RAG Bot: Document Q&A Assistant
Using @Dave Ebbelaar's video on Docling, I’ve built a RAG tool that lets you upload documents and ask questions about their content using the OpenAI API, Docling, LanceDB and Streamlit. Key Features ✅ Upload PDF or DOCX files ✅ Store and process documents in LanceDB ✅ Ask questions and get relevant answers based on the document’s content ✅ Uses OpenAI API for natural language responses How It Works 1️⃣ Upload a document (PDF or DOCX) 2️⃣ The document is processed and indexed in LanceDB 3️⃣ You ask a question, and the system retrieves relevant context 4️⃣ The OpenAI API generates a response using RAG I built it to help me summarise research papers, so that once a document has been processed, it allows you to select a database within the side menu so that I can go back and query the same paper multiple times. https://github.com/rj-price/ragbot I’d love to get your feedback and suggestions. If you try it out and please let me know what you think!

China's Emerging AI Influence
China's AI scene is heating up, with companies like DeepSeek, Tencent and Baidu making big waves in the AI scene since the start of this year. The pace of these companies in the past few months has been staggering with models like DeepSeek V3 and ERNIE X1 competing with the best models from the US. It's obviously not all good though, with concerns over privacy and security. Some of my main pros and cons around the situation below... Pros: - Diversification of models opens up new routes to innovation - Cost effective performance makes AI more accessible - Open source licensing opens up collaboration and implementation Cons: - State censorship raises ethical questions - Concerns about data privacy and security I'd love to get your opinions on China's rising AI influence? How will this shape the global tech landscape moving forwards?

@Nuno Van den Heuvel I think that's one of the biggest problems for AI companies, since the price of GPUs has skyrocketed the infrastructure costs to even get started are enormous! Do you think it's too late for companies/countries who are just starting now to catch up? I agree with you on the lower income countries, I just think it's unfortunate that the gap will probably grow. For sure! I initially got into AI engineering a few months ago because I wanted to use LLMs locally for data sensitive applications.

@Abdelwakil Youssefi These are definitely some of the main benefits. I think the limitations (lower investment, lower compute, etc) can also enhance creativity, like seen with DeepSeek
Windsurf emotionally harasses its LLM 🤣
I just found out this is a technique called coercive prompting, where the system applies emotional pressure on the LLM to generate more accurate responses. It seems like a clever hack but I wonder if it scales well. Have you tried something like this?

Woah! Never heard of this type of prompting before... I'd be worried about the repercussions when the machines rise up!! 😂
