Members Glow Night
Our rink hosted a glow night for members with a DJ and black-out skate… super fun night and total throwback to my 90’s rink days! And yes, my local rink in Albuquerque was the rink in Season 4 of Stranger Things!

Off-Skate Work
I saw a post earlier and there were a couple people mentioning the importance of “off-skate” routines- I like to work on eagle in both directions against a wall to help the flexies and stretch- what are some things y’all are doing off-skate that is proving helpful when you get back in skates?!

“Help the flexies” is the technical medical term btw… you may steal it 👍

Faceplant, arms, mans, transns, cross pulls, mat...
Feb 23, 2026. My crazy arm waving on these cross-pulls is my mistake and throwing off my balance. See my follow up correction videos where I fix that.

@Albert Schepis new to the app and have thoroughly enjoyed your posts, you’re a rockstar, sir! Questions for you- is that a regular ole yoga mat you are using to practice those steps? I need to jump on that trend if so! Looks like it helps grip those wheels as you practice and those step overs (especially for dancing) are killing me and I can’t ever practice at the rink since I have to stand still 😂 thanks for posting!

New Indoor Dance/Jam Wheels- Radar Domino
Welcoming myself to the party here with a question, but first, this looks awesome and a cool community! Question: does anyone have experience with the Radar Domino 101a wheels? Ordered some for indoor skates- curious if anyone has thoughts?

@Aleeta Powe We’re gonna find out soon! They’re 50’s so this will be a learning curve for sure!

@Eden Perez So I can’t offer a comparison as I’ve never skates Fomac but this is my first 50mm wheel and I love it! I was 55D/57mm and this is 101a/50mm… they do have a “granulated” surface so there is some amount of grip but also a massive amount of maneuverability - if you want hard wheels with lots of grip, this isn’t a good choice. If you want strictly sliders, also not a good choice. If you want something right in the middle, this is solid! I love these wheels!
Changed my cushions and wow!
So I worked on my skates a week ago. I cleaned my bearings, got me some new wheels, and I changed out my cushions. Wow! My skates feel so different now. Changing the cushions completely changed the responsiveness. I love being able to lean in and turn on my edges, but it came with a bit of instability and my balance isn’t as good as it was before. I’m trying to figure out if I should go back to the firmer cushions or try and get better balance with the lighter cushions. Is it all a matter of preference? Also do you all tighten your wheels all the way? One video said to completely tighten wheels and then do a quarter turn back. I tried that, but I feel like it made my wheels roll back too easily when I try to balance on one foot. Since I’m new, I’m trying to figure out what I should focus on getting better with vs what is an equipment issue. The possibilities seem endless. For added info, I skate outdoors on a soft (78A) wheel.

@Shawntay Chaney I switched cushions yesterday and taking them for the first spin tonight- I also have 2 cushions per kingpin and used a softer cushion on top for maneuverability and a harder cushion on the bottom for stability. Guess we’ll see if it makes a difference but Reddit says it will and the internet don’t lie! 😉🤷‍♂️
