The best thing you can do if you’re just starting out
If you don’t have your keynote yet, but you know you feel called to speak. Here are three things every new speaker needs to do: 1. Schedule your first event. I know it sounds scary. But I promise you hosting an event is going to accelerate your speaker journey. I don’t care if it’s the webinar or if you invite people over to your house or the library. And I don’t care if no one shows up. (no one did in my first keynote.). From there book an event every two weeks. 2. apply to be on Podcasts. This will hone the development of your keynote because you’re going to learn what people are curious about through the hosts questions. Text me the word podcast at 801-509-5495 and I’ll send you a list of 1000 shows that need guests. Free 3. Record every keynote. Play it back and watch for incongruence and things you want to fix. This is where being your own worst critic can actually come in handy. Which one of these are you gonna do?
