The Business Résumé That Can Open Contracting Opportunities
One of the most overlooked documents in government contracting isn't a proposal,it's your Company Profile. Many small businesses spend time looking for contract opportunities but overlook the fact that agencies, prime contractors, and procurement officers often want to know who they're doing business with before considering them. A strong company profile helps communicate: ✔️ What your business does ✔️ Your core capabilities ✔️ Past performance and experience ✔️ Certifications and registrations ✔️ Why your company is qualified Think of it as your business résumé. When prepared correctly, it can help create credibility and make networking, capability briefings, and subcontracting opportunities more effective. If you're planning to enter government contracting, don't wait until an opportunity appears before getting your company profile ready. Do you currently have a company profile for your business, or is it something you're still working on?

The Business Résumé That Can Open Contracting Opportunities
FMCSA article regarding authority.
Hey Everyone, What are your thoughts on the article published by the FMCSA on Friday regarding the buying or leasing of mature authority? I’ve always been curious about how that process actually works, and it’s also been a concern of mine that someone could potentially use an authority without the owner’s knowledge. I’d be interested in hearing everyone’s perspective on this.

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration guidance is really about protecting legitimate carriers and preventing misuse. Proper identity verification for transfers/leases Clear, documented agreements Regular monitoring of DOT/MC records Secure control of account access Leasing or purchasing authority isn’t inherently wrong, but transparency and documentation are key. When the process is formal, both parties are protected and misuse becomes much harder.
4 Things to Do Before Bidding on Government Contracts
Jumping into government contracting without preparation is where most businesses go wrong. Before you bid, make sure you’ve handled these: 1. Proper Business Registration - Your LLC/corp must be in good standing with the correct structure, EIN, and required registrations. 2. Targeted Market Research - Identify which agencies actually buy what you offer. Not every opportunity is for every business. 3. Strong Capability Statement - This is your government résumé. It should clearly communicate your services, differentiators, past performance, and contact info concise and professional. 4. Relevant Certifications - If applicable, pursue small business certifications (e.g., set-aside programs). These can unlock exclusive contract opportunities. Government contracting rewards preparation. The businesses that win are the ones that are structured, positioned, and ready before they ever submit a bid. 💬 What stage are you currently in structuring, registering, or actively bidding?
