What kind of work do you turn away
I am curious what kind of work you guys don't do. I don't do engines, transmissions, head gaskets. I will do some timing chains but not all. And I don't go behind someone just to remove something or drill out bolts that some one else broke. I also do very little on diesels I have had 4 or 5 calls this week for head gaskets and 1 today about getting a stuck oil filter off.

No trans or really heavy engine work. Dont mind a couple timing jobs every now and then. Just to spice it up. If I had it my way I would diag all day lol
Brakes
General question for you guys. On your normal everyday daily drivers who are you using for brakes and rotors. Full disclosure, I've been using carquest for quite a while. However, the last three four jobs I've had I've been running into their cradle clips not being very good fits and it's happened a few times lately. The stamping just seems wrong. I had to get O'Reilly's recently because I couldn't get the pads in stock at carquest that I wanted and I noticed that their clips were actually very spot on. Just wondering everyone's thoughts on that. I guess I'm wondering if anybody else has noticed this and what everybody else is using. I will also be honest, I don't always love O'Reilly's for these parts because the way they do their packaging is not much of a discount at the end of the day which is why I don't go that road.

I will be honest I swear by napa. My step father is the only mechanic for a large fleet company. They run everything napa including oil with no issues. I find simply just cleaning the rotors. Using a mid grade pad and cleaning brackets of rust and you are golden. Regardless of brand. I avoid anything high with metallic. I worked for Toyota when the venza had a recall on the pad for excessive noise due to to much metallic in the pad so that lead ne to avoid high metallic content pads
Slow Days
So I have had plenty of slow days since I started my business. They feel different to me than the slow days I've had when working in a shop for someone else. Anybody else feel that way? Last month was good and this month has been fantastic up until today. I had 1 small job today and nothing else on the schedule. I know the phone will ring and it will pick back up, but it makes my mind wonder and get negative thoughts going.

As I was always told by my father, dont count your hours. When the work is there get it done and the money/hours follows every time. Helps me feel less stressed. Today may be $0 tomorrow could be $750 in 3 hours. 💪
UPDATES
Ok i have some ideas for future things to do that i want to run by you all!! First the live calls obviously it been a bit since we did one i do apologize but I've been slammed so I figured we could try something else like. A Saturday garage take over. We could get on a live call but hang out in the garage work on projects have friends on or spouses employees what ever have a beer or 6 what ever you want to do. ill probably be working on some side projects of my own. Second would be SKOOL games. This is where i want to encourage everyone to participate more. So as you know there are levels to skool if you comment and post a lot your point go up. But it gives me a 7 day and 30 day leader board where I can see tallies on how much you participate and i can do winners to receive tool gifts from me. So let me know your thoughts id like to start the lives this weekend on Saturday

I would definitely be interested. Its hard to engage in some things if I dont have an answer.
Insurance
Need someone to point me in the right direction for General liability insurance in Arizona . I work on Semis , Rv, Auto , and equipment. I do roadside as well , but I think what is pushing them to deny my insurance is because all this liability of being on the side of the road another place said it was my yard location. ( I rent a little spot that shares a tire shop) they said it’s because of that as well . A lot of the main insurance company denied me . I did try auto owners but got denied . Should I try to re apply but use my house address.?
