What kind of work do you turn away
I am curious what kind of work you guys don't do. I don't do engines, transmissions, head gaskets. I will do some timing chains but not all. And I don't go behind someone just to remove something or drill out bolts that some one else broke. I also do very little on diesels I have had 4 or 5 calls this week for head gaskets and 1 today about getting a stuck oil filter off.

@Ryan Shorey I forgot about exhaust work, I don't do that either. I will likely replace some catalytic converters on some as long as they are not to rusty. I think the metal on Subarus is made different, they will rust anywhere. Luckily we don't have a lot of them around here.
Programming
On programming modules, do y'all use certain places or thru internet on your own , I may have a abs module coming up that will probably need programmed

@Calvin Pierce Are you sure? I don't think they made the Liberty in 2016

@Calvin Pierce If it is a Jeep around that year I think it is just a scantool function to initialize the NEW ABS module. If it is used, I don't know if it can be done at all or if it requires programming or cloning. Service info should tell you this. Do you have service info?

I remember using those some back in the early 2000's. We had Alldata on disc but only one computer. So I would use those books when someone else was on the computer. They also had some good info and testing techniques in there that wasn't in factory service info. The guy that started Automotive Training Group used to write info for those books before he started his training company.
6.0 Powerstroke Trans Cooler Lines. Rust vs ALDATA Time?
Hey guys, quick question. 2004 F250 6.0 Powerstroke with heavily rusted transmission cooler lines leaking. ALDATA shows about 1 hour per line, but this truck is pretty corroded (Midwest salt). How are you guys handling these in the real world? Are you quoting straight book time or adding extra for rust? How often are fittings snapping on you? And honestly do you even take jobs like this mobile, or leave them for a shop? Appreciate any input.

It's a case by case for me. Definitely have to add time. If it is to badly rusted, I will decline the job. I'm not going to get in a mess at someone else's house. The job has to be right for the customer, right for the car, and right for the shop
Brakes
General question for you guys. On your normal everyday daily drivers who are you using for brakes and rotors. Full disclosure, I've been using carquest for quite a while. However, the last three four jobs I've had I've been running into their cradle clips not being very good fits and it's happened a few times lately. The stamping just seems wrong. I had to get O'Reilly's recently because I couldn't get the pads in stock at carquest that I wanted and I noticed that their clips were actually very spot on. Just wondering everyone's thoughts on that. I guess I'm wondering if anybody else has noticed this and what everybody else is using. I will also be honest, I don't always love O'Reilly's for these parts because the way they do their packaging is not much of a discount at the end of the day which is why I don't go that road.

@Brian Greendahl II Have you used their fully coated rotors? How are they? I like carquest, but I think the coating on Oreilly's rotors is to hard

@Ryan Shorey Napa is ridiculous, they are always to expensive. I priced a Denso compressor a couple weeks ago $356 from AZ and 635 from Napa. My autozone has the best commercial parts guy in my area.
