Grateful to this community
Guys, I (mistakenly) took a look at some of the men’s style communities on Reddit and what a dumpster fire! Downright mean, poor advice, criticism without the constructiveness…. Just sad. It reminds me of a quote I once heard: “If a mouse laughs at a cat, it means its hole is nearby”. Weak people act brave when they have protection, in that realm it is anonymity I guess. The question remains- why?
The great mystery of Linen
Ok boys, it’s already real hot in North Carolina. I’d been living in (Southern) Italy the last few years, and swear by linen in warm weather. Classy, comfortable and incredibly effective to help with the heat- however- nobody here seems to be wearing it. Except me, of course. Dudes have been stopping me and saying “what’s that?” Or “how can you be in long sleeves/ pants right now?” And have genuinely never heard of linen clothes. The real question is… why? Are most dudes just opposed to branching out from what is standard?

@Srini A this is the vibe I’m seeing. Good thing I stocked up in Italy!
Men's bag please
I want to understand about men's bag as a fashion item. It is surely the most utility item a man can carry. But, often, due to lack of awareness, I just carry my back pack (which has very traditional looks). And I am beginning to realize that back packs are too old school and lack that oomph. Please help me here. What kind of a bag would you carry? If you already are into this, please post some pics and details.

That’s going to depend on what you’re doing but have you ever thought of moving towards a briefcase? Or messenger bag? Get in genuine leather and take care of it, I’ve been carrying one for quite a while now and always get questions about it. If you go too formal with it, it will look weird u less your going to an office but there are lots of more casual styles out there! Happy hunting.
I’m back
Gentlemen it’s been entirely too long since I’ve been active on here. I’ve found my desire to look and dress sharp is tied into my self view. I had lost a good amount of weight and felt better about myself. But then let myself go do to lack of support at home. I recently had some blood work done and had some troubling numbers. So naturally it scared me. I was told everything is still reversible. But the scare made me really realize that I need to change. I doubled down on everything. My diet, my fitness my lifestyle. I’ve already lost over 10lbs since that blood work came back and my blood sugar levels are now way down to almost where they need to be. Because I’m actually feeling better about myself I feel like I’m worthy (not sure how else to word it) to look my best in fashion every day as well. I’m currently in a slightly over sized polo shirt, dark jeans and dark brown hiking boots while at work but I’m going back to my chukka boots, after I dust them off since the weather is getting nicer, to get into feeling better about how I dress. Sorry for the rambling but I just felt I needed to get it out there to guys who might know how I’m feeling.

Welcome back man, and thanks for sharing the story.
Suit advice
One of the best pieces of advice I ever heard was from an AskOkey video. In he talks about how as you get closer to your body, you should go lighter. For example, if you wear a dark grey suit, then wear a mid-color tie, and then a light colored shirt. Deviation can work, but I think as a general rule, it's a sure way to ensuring you always look great.

I always found it interesting when someone has a killer suit, great tie, good classic clean shoes… and somehow still looks “off”. This is good advice brother.
