Five Activities or Four Formations
I first got interested in Pat Martino’s minor conversion method from a post on a jazz guitar forum. Forum members recommended getting the book “Linear Expressions” and learning the jazz lines. There was some discussion of their interpretation of minor conversion and some posted playing the Activities. That’s where it stopped. You had to be Pat Martino to improvise with these lines. I did some research, found Armin’s videos and ultimately purchased his course. I learned the jazz lines from the book “Linear Expressions”. This was before I took the course and before Amir graciously made his Formations available on YouTube. I also learned you don’t have to be Pat Martino to improvise with these lines. Which jazz lines did you learn - Pat Martino’s five Activities or Amir’s four Formations?

get the connection between theory and playing the instrument. developing a imagination of musical ideas and being able to transform them to the fretboard and make music. :)

I wish to pick up the Guitar and beeing melodic. I always feeling a distance to abilities of a piano player. I would love to have their harmonic and melodic understandings and beeing able to use them anytime.
🎸 Why Most Jazz Guitarists Plateau — And What Helped Me Break Through
This one’s for the players who feel stuck, even after doing all the right things: - Practicing regularly - Learning solos from records - Knowing their scales and arpeggios - Even jamming with others when possible But still… the solos don’t flow. They feel safe, or repetitive, or like you’re trying to remember what comes next instead of actually playing music. I was 100% there too. What finally clicked for me was learning how to simplify my mental process while soloing.Less thinking, more listening.Less “what scale goes here?” and more “what sound do I want?” That shift is what helped me actually enjoy improvising — and start getting better, faster. If you're in that spot right now — feeling stuck even though you're putting in the work — I built something for you. Inside GuitArmin Premium, I break this entire process down into simple, practical steps: - How to hear the changes before you play them - How to make soloing feel natural, not mechanical - How to actually use the stuff you practice — across real tunes It’s not just lessons — it’s a complete roadmap with feedback, community, and support to get you from stuck to flowing. If you want in, check it out in the link below. And if you’re not ready — no stress at all. 👉 More info here

it's amazing how the formations contain the scales anyway and make them sound more musical then just playing scales up and down. to practise and to improvise with the formations combined with listening a lot to the pros and try to add jazz language really shifts your own playing forward👍🤯🙏
