Cognitive Noise during Rest
During rest, cognitive activity may increase in the form of task-related thoughts or internal expectations. This can create a sense of urgency or pressure, interrupting the restorative process. These thought patterns are often habitual and can reinforce difficulty sustaining rest. Identifying these interruptions is a key step in changing the experience. ℹ️ Educational purposes only. wow insightful post..for me these thoughts keep running alot in my mind and i love being in Go mode as a grad student but i have to intentionaly rest and do mediation and other beautiful practices so that i am well rested
When Rest Feels Uncomfortable
Following periods of rest, some individuals notice an increase in discomfort rather than relief. This may include restlessness, tension, or a pull to re-engage in activity. These responses are often not about preference but about familiarity. For systems accustomed to ongoing activity, slowing down can feel unfamiliar and difficult to sustain. ℹ️ Educational purposes only. Not a substitute for therapy or professional mental health care.

just like it takes discipline to work..it also takes discipline to rest ...which is why after work i log out completely and go to NSDR practice immediately so that i become well rested..then i go out with my family and we enjoy dinner and a laugh
Hard Days vs Hard Identity
Having a difficult day does not automatically mean something is wrong with you. It’s easy to turn temporary struggles into permanent conclusions about ourselves. But hard moments are experiences—not identities. 👉 What’s something you’ve been trying to remind yourself lately? ℹ️ Educational purposes only. i remind myself that challenges are there to expand me ..i call it personal expansion ..this tells me that when i am in the fire i get hardened to go through challenges..its the concept of Eustress( productive pain) however when it turns to distress(unproductive pain) thats where i draw the line and immediately go to rest
Willing vs Ready
There’s often a belief that we need to feel ready before we make a change. But in reality, readiness doesn’t always come first. Sometimes change begins with willingness— a small openness to doing something differently, even when it feels uncertain. 👉 What’s something you’ve been waiting to feel “ready” for? ℹ️ Educational purposes only. Not a substitute for therapy or professional mental health care.

yes i also battle with this as a grad student i get overwhelmed and knowing sometimes i am needed in my call to be a practioner i honestly think that sometimes i cant take the next step..i ensured that my nervous system is regulated so that i take action even if unclear..and boom clarity appears out of nowhere and this boosts me alot more than i think
If you could...
Teach the members of this group a little something, give a short in-service 15-30 mins, what would it be titled? Would you want? I'm considering this as a real possibility. Building community skills and awareness through shared leadership. Lmk your thoughts.

non-sleep deep rest( yoga nidra)..this practice is insanely overpowered when it comes to deeply regulation your nervous system and shifting from Go mode to rest mode..i dont know how many people are missing out on the flow of NSDR
