How to update column data type in data warehouse
Hi, I have got this table in data warehouse and need to update the "DateStamp" column from datetime2 to date. I was trying to run alter table query however it doesnt support in Fabric, is there a better way to do this without dropping and recreating the whole table?

I would imagine that is the downside of having your data in a lake as opposed a relational engine. We talked about that on a different chat.
Gold Layer: Data Lake or Relational Database?
Has anybody here contemplated this question? Did anybody go all in on delta format and ditch SQL relational databases for the consumption layer? Did you create facts and Dimensions in the lake? How did "direct lake mode" in Power BI work out for you? Would you be willing to share your experience?

@Eivind Haugen Thank you for sharing. How do you do your transformation when creating the model? Do you use SQL? Did you have a problem joining and stuff? I have only had relational databases as warehouses. I have only used the lake as a persistent stage in the past. Now with Fabric, trying to implement medallion and wondering how to take advantage of Delta format. I guess I have been a SQL guy all of life, having trouble walking away from a relational database!

@Tong Liu I hear you. I have been a SQL guy all of life, having trouble walking away from a relational database! That is the heart of my question. Are people truly ditching the SQL engine? How is that working for them?
