Hi everyone, Jessie Gauger, Meiers Motors in Appleton Wisconsin. We are a small family owned shop since 2017. I feel we have trouble finding techs because the dealerships scoop them up out of school as well as we are a very saturated city with automotive repair shops. There are so many options for technicians to go to. We try setting ourselves apart from other shops but it isn't easy. We found our last tech through someone we knew.
We try to focus on culture, we are a small family shop and family is important to us, so a good work/life balance. If you have a doctor apt. or your kid is sick we are here for you, not a problem. Obviously don't make it a habit but normal life situations we understand. We offer competitive pay but so does everyone else. We unfortunately can't offer insurance but are looking into programs like a 401k. Just overall we try to set ourselves apart from the dealership feel where you are just an employee.
