Just Ask!
Just when I thought I couldn't love this community more, I DO!! I needed a form. I had an idea of what I needed it to look like but I also knew other speakers/coaches in the group likely had a similar form, so I asked during yesterday's weekly Inspiring Talks meeting. AND I RECEIVED! They sent me their forms. I took their suggestions, added my spin to it and TAA DAAA! Form ready for use! Mastering the Q&A
Don't let the Q&A kill the vibe. You just killed it. The energy in the room is electric. Then comes the Q&A... and suddenly the energy drops off a cliff because of a "comment-not-a-question" or a silent room. Don’t let a flat finish ruin your impact. - Rule 1: Prime the Pump. Always have a "planted" question ready. Say, "A question I’m often asked is..." to get the ball rolling. - Rule 2: The "Sandwich" Method. Answer the question, but always bridge it back to your core message. Don't let the audience lead you into the weeds. - Rule 3: The Final Word. Never end on a Q&A. After the last question, take back the mic for a 60-second "Closing Charge." You control the final impression. Pro Tip: You’re the pilot of the room until you step off that stage. Don't hand over the controls during the Q&A!

I prefer not to do a Q&A it is too often a chance for an argumentive person to get Mic time. I'd rather deal with Questions off stage. If you must do a Q&A on stage then Drew's suggestions are dead on. One other piece of advice: Citing the commenters thesis with words like, " I often hear words like (thesis) In some situations they are reasonable but in most, based on my research on three continents you are better off thinking about it in (your key advice)."

Having the audience take a bit of you home with them is terrific! Having them buy in without having seen you takes it up a notch. Remember that all of your content including the products need to be consistent. I'm reworking 25 years of product development to accomplish that goal right now.

What are you doing 10 minutes before the mic goes live? The lights are dimming, the MC is reading your bio, and your heart is doing triple-time. Top-tier speakers don’t just pace around nervously; they have a ritual to prime themselves for a powerhouse performance. Your Pre-Stage Checklist: 1. Power Posing: Stand like a superhero for 2 minutes to lower cortisol. 2. The "First 60" Visualization: Just visualize the first minute. Nail the opening, and the rest flows. 3. Hydrate & Hum: Warm up your vocal cords with room-temp water and quiet humming. 4. Find a Friend: Pick one friendly face in the front row and treat the talk like a chat with them. Note: Nerves are just energy without a direction. Don't try to "calm down"—try to get excited instead.

I like being on first, after a break or after a meal. So usually 10 minutes before I'm mingling with the audience. It relaxes me and often provides material I'll use during the keynote. At about 5 minutes before I'm making sure that my introducer has the intro I've written and knows to read it verbatim. 3 minutes before I'm in position to take the stage. A minute before, i center myself and mentally go over the first line. then it is showtime!

I was spending some time in the community today and it hit me just how much heavy lifting our profiles do before we ever send a message or hop on a call. In a space like Skool, your profile isn’t just a bio—it’s your silent introduction. But it made me wonder: are we using that space to its full potential, or are we leaving opportunity on the table by being a bit too modest? I noticed a few common patterns that most of us (myself included!) fall into. If you look at your own profile right now through the eyes of a total stranger, here are a few things to consider: - Titles vs. Outcomes: Many of us lead with "International Speaker," "Author," or "CEO." Those are impressive, but they tell people what you are, not necessarily how you help them. What changes for the person who hires you? - Human Connection: We have an amazing mix of coaches, poets, and facilitators here. Adding a tiny bit of "why" or a human touch—like your mission to make the world better or your specific creative lens—helps you stand out in a sea of professional labels. It’s usually just a simple shift from sounding "qualified" to being "the solution." When was the last time you looked at your bio and asked: "If someone landed here with zero context, would they know exactly why they should reach out to me within five seconds?" @Regina Huber @E.g.
