Why we focus on losses more than wins
Most of us grew up getting red X’s in school for wrong answers and not gold stars for what we did right. If I asked you to name 10 things you messed up this week, you could probably rattle them off. When I ask for 10 wins, it gets quiet. That's because our brain remembers what came with the most emotion, and for most of us, that was mistakes. So we underestimate how much we’re actually getting right. We set the bar so high that the everyday wins don’t even register. That matters more than it sounds, because it affects your self-esteem. Think of your self-esteem as a stack of poker chips. Every win you notice is another chip on your stack. The bigger your stack, the more willing you are to take chances, because one miss won’t knock you out of the game. And the more you risk, the more you win in life. In midlife, many of us look back and see the same patterns show up again and again. This is one worth breaking. That’s why every Wednesday is WINSday🎉 inside Midlife UNpaused, a community for women living their BEST midlife. We celebrate at least one win. The bar is low on purpose. Took a shower? Counts. Asked for help? Counts. If you want a place to notice more wins and stack more chips, join us. We'd love to celebrate you.

5 THINGS I’VE LEARNT ON MY RATHER UNEXPECTED JOURNEY FROM SKOOL TO THE WWW 😂
When I started doing a little weekly post about events happening around Skool, I had absolutely no idea where it was going. That post became a PDF. The PDF grew. I started manually loading events into a calendar. We created templates. Then automations. Then Magic Buttons. And somehow, a few months later, I'm sitting here with an actual website. Which is slightly ridiculous when I think about it. But looking back, the interesting bit isn't really what we built. It's what I learnt while building it. 1. You don't need to know where something is going before you start. I couldn't have planned what SED is today because most of it hadn't even occurred to me yet. Sometimes you only get to see the next idea because you acted on the last one. 2. Listen when people DON'T do what you expect them to do. This one has been uncomfortable at times. 😂 It's very easy to think, “Well, I've told them what to do. Why aren't they bloody doing it?” But people not doing something is information. Maybe it's too complicated. Maybe it takes too long. Maybe they don't understand why it's worth doing. Instead of getting annoyed with people, I've learnt to get curious about why. 3. Your customers will help you build your business if you pay attention. Some of the best changes we've made haven't come from sitting around having brilliant ideas. They've come from watching what our members struggle with, what they ask for, what they don't use and what makes them say, “Oh, THAT'S easy.” That's gold. 4. Don't get too attached to something just because you spent bloody ages creating it. Ouch. 😂 I've created things that worked perfectly well... until they didn't. The temptation is to hang onto them because of the hours you've already put in. I've learnt that sometimes the smartest thing you can say is: “Well, that served its purpose. What's next?” 5. You are considerably more capable than you think you are. This might be the biggest one for me. There have been plenty of moments during this journey when I haven't known how to do something.

🎙️ FROM A SKOOL CONNECTION TO THE PODCAST!
One of the things I appreciate about Skool is that you never know where one connection might lead. Through @Lidia Axe , I had the opportunity to connect with @Jennifer Juniper right here through Skool. Now, Jen is joining me on That Will Nevr Work Podcast! 📅 Friday, October 9 ⏰ 10:00 AM Jen shares her personal journey navigating Crohn’s disease, emotional well-being, and learning to trust her instincts when life was telling her something needed to change. But this conversation goes beyond her diagnosis. We talk about resilience, listening to yourself, navigating uncertainty, and remaining open to possibility even when life doesn't go according to plan. That is one of the reasons I love conversations like this—and communities like Skool. A simple introduction can become a meaningful conversation that has the potential to impact someone you may never meet. Thank you, Lidia, for making the connection. 🙌🏾 And Jen, thank you for being willing to share your story. I hope some of my fellow Skoolers will join us next Friday! 🎙️ That Will Nevr Work Podcast October 9 at 10:00 AM https://www.skool.com/the-wyn-inner-circle-2246/about *Jen shares her personal experience. This conversation is for informational and inspirational purposes and is not medical advice.

this is what I love about Skool, too, @Maurice Chism❣️ Connection is currency. It was a delight to be on your podcast and understand where the name of it came from. Thank you for having me. Thank you for spreading inspiration and infinite possibility. In the words of Walt Disney “it’s kind of fun to do the impossible“ Thank you @Lidia Axe for being the connecting piece. Everyone I’ve met through your has been incredible

I keep seeing the same thing. Someone switches on Growth Boost, waits a few weeks, and nothing happens. So they assume it's broken or that Skool just isn't picking them. Many people don't realise that Skool only invests in groups that have already converted and kept members. If nobody is visiting your About page, the algorithm has nothing to work with. Please bring the first traffic yourself; the biggest communities on Skool use YouTube for this. So I've put together a free PDF covering how Growth Boost actually decides who gets promoted, how communities like Maker School and Automatable feed their Skool from YouTube, the types of videos that turn viewers into members, and the first five steps to take if you're starting from zero. Free PDF Have you had any members come through from Growth Boost yet, or has it all been your own traffic so far? Des

@Bob Bogaard oh I thought Sam was a fan of using the free trial. I have it on. I like pairing it with a seven day challenge so that they can actually get a quick win in that week.
