ATX Entrepreneurial Volunteer Opportunity
Greetings Y'all! Are you looking for a fantastic volunteer opportunity as well as a great entrepreneurial learning experience? Be a counselor for Camp Enterprise sponsored by the Austin Rotary Club! As some of you know, I'm a Rotarian and my club hosts this event every year. For over 40 years, the Rotary Club of Austin has hosted Camp Enterprise — a unique, all-expenses-paid experience for high school juniors who are curious about business, leadership, and entrepreneurship. During this immersive, three-day camp, students work in teams to design a real business concept. With guidance from successful entrepreneurs and Rotarian mentors, they’ll explore how ideas become companies as well as how leadership, collaboration, and communication bring those ideas to life. Think a weekend-long Shark Tank! Basically, you’ll have an all-expenses paid weekend. It’s a great opportunity to hear from successful and savvy entrepreneurs, work with youth and give back to our community! You can ride up to camp on the chartered bus with the students. All meals and snacks are provided. You’ll sleep in one of the gender-appropriate dorms—yes bunk beds! I did this last year and it was truly amazing to see these groups of HS juniors create, market and sell/pitch their new and innovative product. I will be one of the advisors and judges. I also have a bottom bunk reserved. HA! This year, I plan to come up Sat. morning and leave after the final judging and lunch on Sunday afternoon. Talk to me if you have any questions or want additional info. I can give you nitty, gritty and what to expect. There is fast WiFi and you’ll have time to explore the camp, hike and get your own work done. They are fellow Rotarians coordinating the volunteers and helping run the event. Please tell them that you are part of Focus Founders and heard about this from Jeanine Olsen.
