Halloween on Wheels
Thanks for indulging me today! I also managed to skate at my daughter's Halloween carnival last Saturday in a wolf mascot costume! The debris skills leveled up due to impaired visual plane, but I stayed upright and experienced so much dopamine from the little kids waving to me. #

New L.A. Area Skating
There is a new long-term pop-up (so is that a stay-up?) at The Shops at Hollywood Park in Inglewood, on the SoFi Stadium campus. It's open for 2-hour sessions Wednesdays & Thursdays noon-10pm, Fridays & Saturdays noon-10:30pm, until at least the end of December. Outdoor skating on concrete, no walls to crash into. All ages welcome, but last session of the night is 21+ with themed music. Kids are $10.50/ session, adults are $15.50/ session, 21+ sessions are $19.50, skate rental is $3.00 / session. Tickets and schedule info: sunshineskatecenter.com I haven't tried it yet. I'm still not a strong skater so don't know how I feel about 0 walls. But since I work at Hollywood Park 😁 I'm keeping my eye on it. Insider tip: right now, participation is low. If you like an empty skate environment, now is a good time to take advantage.

I finally tried it. I was completely alone on the floor, woefully out of practice and fighting for my life πŸ˜†. There are some cracks but they're easily rolled over even for wobbly me. My only complaint was that in the afternoon there was 0 shade, but Cory the Man In Charge said that wouldn't be a problem once we're back on standard time (and I forgot to peep it this week to see what time the shade rolls in.)
68 and here we go again
I’m relearning at 68. And want to learn outdoors. My challenge is finding the right outdoor location. I’m thinking tennis or basketball courts. Are there other locations I should look in to?

I call street skating "skating in the wild" and I'm terrified to do it. I took a lesson with an excellent instructor on a bike path. I almost died. πŸ˜† It was NOT easy! But a few things the he taught me that I wouldn't have thought of myself: 1) When you're first learning to street skate, it's good to pick a path that has a fence running along one side so that you have a safe place to bail. 2) If you can, try to skate with a partner to give you an extra pair of eyes for hazards, and a larger presence/ increased visibility with cars, pedestrians, bikes, etc. 3) Paint = hazard. Things painted on the concrete or asphalt such as lane markers, crosswalks, etc., are raised, and higher than you think, so treat them like any other hazard on the ground. Best of luck to you. Please share your progress.
I can do manuals on my non-dominant side now πŸŽ‰
That side always has the air of impossibility- so when it finally comes online… it’s cause for celebration!

Broke my damn toe
I broke my pinky toe. Been out of commission. Bruising is gone but it's still swollen and hurts to wear a closed toe shoe. I'm going to wrap it and see how it goes in skates. Any of you ever have a broken toe while skating? Im going loop loop without my quad wheels on πŸ€ͺ lol!

Ouch! Broken toes are painful. ~Speedy recovery vibes~ headed your way! πŸ™πŸ» I haven't had to deal with a broken toe, but I have had injuries and illnesses that kept me off skates for several weeks. I feel like I lose skills when I cant skate. ☹️
