Going All In
This is my first general post here, and I wanted to take the opportunity to share some advice based on my own journey. I’ve recently joined Data Alchemy as part of my lateral move into the world of AI, after spending 17 years in IT. I started out as a tier 1 help desk analyst and gradually worked my way up to principal engineer, eventually stepping into management. Each step in my career introduced its own unique challenges and technologies, but one thing has remained constant: I always went all in. Early on, I learned that casually picking up new skills or technologies and hoping they’ll magically fit into your work won’t get you far. To truly succeed, you need to dive deep, dedicating all your spare time and energy to mastering the next step in your journey. Although I’m still in the early stages of my transition into AI, I’m fully committed—and even my car seems to be on board with the journey. 😁
Going All In
Hey you lateral-movers: what field are you coming from?
Question for those of you who already have experience working in companies or academics in a different field: - what field are you coming from? - how much experience do you have in it? - do you have plans to use your previous experience in your data adventure, or on the contrary, you are learning data science to move forward in your main area of expertise?

For Beginning Python Students: Additional Python Coding Challenges
I'm just starting to learn Python, but I know from learning other programming languages that writing numerous programs in the new programming language cements how to use the new language in my mind. Here are quite a few free Python coding challenges for Python students at the beginning, intermediate, and advanced levels: https://www.101computing.net/category/python-beginner/ https://www.101computing.net/python-challenges-intermediate-level/ https://www.101computing.net/category/python-advanced/ 300 solutions are available if you need help programming in Python, HTML/CSS/JavaScript, LMC, SQL, etc., but that requires registering as a member for £35 per year (about US$45 at today's exchange rates). If I truly got stuck, I would probably just post a question on Stackoverflow.com or else choose another programming challenge. Here is the list of solved challenges for members: https://www.101computing.net/solved-challenges/

Nick, thanks for posting this information. I'm new to Python myself so I'm always looking for little ways to challenge myself given my current skill set. These will be helpful. If you'd like someone to discuss python with feel free to reach out, I could always use someone to chat with who's on the same journey.

Hello Everyone, my name is James I'm from Ohio, USA. I'm very excited to have found a group of likeminded individuals. While I'm very new to data science and AI I've worked in the tech field for the last 17 years. This marks the beginning of a new chapter in my life, one I'm excited to get started on. If anyone is looking for a co-op partner to collaborate on projects, feel free to reach out. And if by any chance someone experienced in AI is willing to be my mentor on this journey I'd like to have the opportunity.

@Jingfeng Yao Hi Jingfeng, keep at it and you'll get where you want to be. Many others, like myself, are starting off completely new to this as well. But we all start somewhere. Feel free to reach out if you need a friend to collaborate with.
