Collab Feedback
Hey all! @Kaleb Blackard and I have been working on this piece (surprise, @Glenn Macrae ! Welcome to the secret collab!) and are ready to get some feedback on it! It started with a melody I sent him (I think both of us were expecting a darker vibe with his cinematic trap lane and my dark pop lane but this is just what came out ๐Ÿ˜…) Then he built the arrangement, I went in and wrote lyrics and recorded vocals, and then he mixed them. Some specific questions we have: - Any specific feedback to improve the vocal mix? - Likewise any feedback on the arrangement of the beat? - What points in this song could there be more โ€œmomentsโ€ to help it build as the song goes on? https://s.disco.ac/lrahqahppelz

@Kaleb Blackard @Jennifer Crowe First and foremost, great concept and track. Literally @Glenn Macrae's feedback is probably the best and most constructive in terms of editing. @Kaleb Blackard definitely treat vocals solo watching for noise "reduction", but make sure they still blend with the mix overall. Don't be afraid to keep some of that natural ambiance just turn down anywhere from -4db to -10db for breaths and any other noise you may stumble across. Don't be afraid to turn natural content into something new as well through octave shift and timing alterations and what not "get creative". I would love to see what y'all can come up with (sick stacks or sum lol)??? @Jennifer Crowe as for the (performance) i love where your going with it "but" i think you have more energy to put in from what i hear. (THIS IS A GREAT SONG) with that being said treat the performance that way, the energy is waiting for you in that beat so bring your natural "juice". The best way i can word it is practicing punchiness and breath control is also a form of compressing your vocals emphasizing your expression and emotional impact before your vocals even hit the microphone, AND TIMING IS EVERYTHING. Don't be afraid of a click track or even punch in for a main phrase!!! I can hear the your talent 100% and as a professionally recording artist myself, I know there has been a process of finding my own "confidence" in "mic technique" and have an "impact with a phrase". Girl what I'm saying is your dope so let em know, you feel me!!!! BELIEVE IS YOUSELF FIRST AND FORMOST!!!! In all respect guys nice work cant wait to see where y'all take it!!!

So i have been working with some beats @Kaleb Blackard produced and put a little ep. together this past month or so. I've mixed the vocals to a point I'm "content to an extent...." BUT, i have my complaints that are vary minimal but things I've noticed. I'm not gonna say though, just to see if I'm making a mountain out of a mole hill. I'm still growing in the audio engineering field so input is always welcome. My main ask is mainly placement and where these could live in the sync industry. Still only beginning in this sync journey i often think where I as an artist first fit in with some of my writings... I'm learning to lean into my own uniqueness as far as the writing is concerned... is that gonna bite me later or should i stay on the path of inclusivity by continue to simplify the writing and stick to common subjects, as to adhere to a more broad audience in the sync field, or continue to explore with it. And as always thanks for the time.... JQ OUT!!!!! https://s.disco.ac/zgzvquteiqqv

@Glenn Macrae awesome feed back man, I am truly grateful for everything you just gave me and I'm definitely implementing what I can each song. I'm still learning the breakdown of how to generally create a clean vocal... Every track is a new challenge and everything has essentially been trail and error. What I'm saying is I have no real blueprint for even the basics of tracking vocals man. Everything I've done is just going off ear with no references or room treatment. You nailed that but I have been putting my best foot forward in just moving forward moving forward moving forward, and using what I have available to learn along the way. Dude seriously everything your saying with the feedback is clicking in each scenario for the entire breakdown of starting the writing to sitting on the mix. Now my dilemma is if I'm butchering the vocal tracking from the start honestly.... I'd love to see your thoughts on the stems if you have a chance!!!

Latin style beat
Whatโ€™s going on everyone, itโ€™s been a while since I posted anything and I wanted to share something interesting with you all. This is a lot different than what I was previously making. However I love it, I had a conversation a while back that helped me change my view on sync. What I came to realize is I didnโ€™t necessarily need to change who I am and what I create. So today Iโ€™m presenting a Latin style beat that I produced. If you all would be so kind to leave me some honest feedback. My biggest question for you all is do you believe it is sync ready? Why or why not? I made this a little different than a traditional beat it doesnโ€™t have a normal song structure on purpose. I still plan to work on some cinematic projects but for now I want to focus on what I can get done now. So I can build my catalog. Hope you enjoy. Key questions: does it fit the style of music I was trying to convey. Still a little new to this genre and I feel like it may be missing a few elements. Based on your experience is this ready to pitch to a sync libary? How are the dynamics, does it need more โ€œspaceโ€ or spots with no noise? One of my biggest concerns with this is the flute melody is there anyway I could improve it, or does it fit? I was trying my best not to over complicate it. Finally, how does the mix sound? I have done some basic eq and very little effects it sounded good to me. However I would love to hear your thoughts on it. https://s.disco.ac/lyyeoxtjqmiw

@Kaleb Blackard I'll leave this though... 75-80% of your audience will never know the difference as long as it's palettable if you get what I'm saying. Sometimes the imperfections make the song have its own flavor. But good job bro

Would you consider these sync ready??? Id also love to do some collaboration with other producers and or artists in the community!!!
