Seattle area concert series
I've been beating the drum for a while on this one and feel the need to spread the word on this again. If you're in the Seattle area, the ongoing Hotel Crocodile Lobby Sessions series is one of the best ways to see new, and up. & coming bands in the Seattle area from a wide range of genres. The next one in the series is electro/cumbia band Terror/Cactus. Terror/Cactus was a 2023 Sonic Guild gran recipient, and they have a new album coming out June 12th. These sessions are cheap ($12.32 in advance including fees!) and the intimate setting of the hotel lobby makes for a great, up-close experience with the band. Doors at 7pm Tuesday 4/22 for this next one. https://www.ticketweb.com/event/hotel-crocodile-presents-lobby-sessions-hotel-crocodile-tickets/14811433?pl=crocodile

Sour Widows
Just wanted to share some love for a favorite, but fairly unknown band, Sour Widows. I'm seeing them tonight for the 3rd time at Black Lodge in Seattle. They're opening for MX Lonely. A friend once referred to this kind of music as "sad music for sad people" which seems fitting. But it's beautiful, and intense live. This is almost two songs in one, but it builds and builds to a powerful crescendo, and then I'm not sad anymore.

@Stephanie M Another favorite of mine! They played it that night at Black Lodge (but they didn't play Staring Into Heaven/Shining 😭). It was my 3rd time seeing them live and ever show has been fantastic.

@Aj Smith I'll check it out! The theme just keeps going in my life. One of my favorite Loud Family songs is The Second Grade Applauds
A stranger in Seattle!
I'm going to be visiting Seattle with my family the first weekend of April, and think it would be cool to meet some of my fellow music community nerds who reside in the Seattle area. If anyone is be up for a hangout / meetup at Live On Mars in Cap HIll one of those days, please reply to this post and we'll figure something out. Maybe we'll get more than a couple of people and I'll call ahead and try to reserve a space? Who knows. Even if only one or two people are up for it, I'd love to have an extra reason to pay a visit to the bar and patronize the kind of place that I could only wish existed in the town I live in. I'm planning for either Thursday, April 2nd or Friday, April 3rd - so let me know if you want to join on either day. Depending on responses and schedules yet to be determined, I'll pick a day that works and we'll see who can make it.

That "pit dad" up front at the show. 40+ years of live PNW music and still going strong. I want to tell you about this band I saw...
