What are your 2025 Skate goals?
Share your 2025 skate goals! Skills wise what do you hope to improve? Meeting skaters? Travelling to a rink or event you've never been to?... Im working towards mastering sit spin by summer and hopefully 5 comfortable hurricane kicks. Aiming to skate 3 times a week whenever possible and get to more street skate meets with my local skate community. Holding myself accountable here so hopefully I'll be looking back at this post soon enough having achieved them and maybe more along the way. ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ›ผ๐ŸŒช๏ธ

@Tanicia Royster can relate to this! We've all been there.. It's scary but you will gain control of your fear and your skates soon enough. Knowing ways to fall safely will ease your mind. There's are videos on here and online on YouTube to give you tips to fall and how to catch your balance. Practice what you see on those videos and dropping into a squat without your skates on yo get used to the action then you can feel more confident doing it with your skates on. Also any fear you have, I always say send it to your core. Keeping those muscles engaged is key to maintaining balance. So if you feel tension in any other part of your body, arms, hands, shoulders etc imagine releasing it and sending it to your stomach muscles where it will serve you better.

Roller Skate Buyers Guide๐Ÿ“–
I'm creating a roller skate buyers guide and I'm curious what questions do you guys have around buying roller skates, equipment, parts, and accessories? It could be as simple as what is a good first pair of skates or as high-level as when do I know if it's the right time for me to upgrade to custom top-tier pair of roller skates. Lay it all out because I want this to be a comprehensive guide for beginners and advanced skaters alike.

I'd love information on plates. I don't think there's as much information out there as there is for boot and wheel reviews. As I'm looking to upgrade my skates and have my first custom setup made that would be super helpful. Weight, agility materials etc at different price points. Maybe a bit of insight into upgrading bushings too and the ins and outs of choosing quality bearings.
Tap Dancing on Wheels!?
Hey friends! Iโ€™ve been thinking about how tempting it is to try tap dancing in my skates but Iโ€™ve never heard of or seen anyone doing it. So I had myself a little Google and whoa, thereโ€™s so much fun stuff out there! How did I never see Fred and Ginger on wheels before? ๐Ÿคฏ๐Ÿคฉ https://youtu.be/rcRwvVg68FM

@Jay Griffin I've not seen that film. Barbara Streisand in funny girl is another classic old skate scene though. The green leather skates are gorgeous too.

@Jay Griffin I feel like if you didn't make that lorry shot first time there wouldnt be another take. Haha. Terrifying! What a talent. It reminds me of this time I was marshalling at my rink and two guys came in and their whole session they were flailing about and slipping, arms and legs everywhere, like fully chaotic but they never fell once. Every time they managed to catch their balance. Landing on one foot and accidentally doing mid air transitions. They were both tall and looked quite physically fit so obviously had the core strength and balance off skates but no idea how to use it on skates. Their reflexes were so quick though. It was fascinating. I couldn't go near them coz they would have definitely wiped me out but they were the only people on the rink so they weren't an danger to anyone else so I just let them carry on and coached them safely from afar but the whole staff was watching them for their entire session in awe. ๐Ÿ˜‚ They were having a great time, like zero fear and laughing all the way but absolutely wild It was like the most amazing accidental clown act I've ever seen. Fascinating to see. When they came off the rink I was like that was crazy and I can't believe you are both alive but if you can go watch a few YouTube videos and learn to harness this incredible untamed core strength and balance you both clearly have, I feel like you could both be the Greatest trick skaters the world has ever seen. Never saw them again. Lol. We still all talk about them to this day though. They must have played some other kind of sport that was subconsciously transferrable. Another guy who became a regular was a tennis player and I've never seen anyone take to skating so quickly coz they're constantly on their toes and fast reactive footwork and pivots. ๐Ÿ˜™๐Ÿ‘Œ

Paris has an actual rollerblading unit. Good for the chase but I just wonder what they do when they catch up with someone ๐Ÿคฃ it must be so easy to take them out or just run across some gravel. Lol.
