2026 SKATE RESOLUTIONS?
My personal new year starts the day I was born but this 2026 I want to start skating everyday. Not sure if I do 30, 60, 90 or 365. Anyone else starting any skate resolutions or skate goals in 2026?

@Jay West That’s a solid plan 👏 An hour every other day sounds like a great balance. What are you focusing on most right now, endurance, balance, or specific moves?

@Jay West Love that being comfortable on your skates makes such a difference. I always notice a huge improvement once balance clicks.

Ehhh. The floor I got, was way too small, in the process of making my own now. Need to rerun the 15 squares. Plus some of the clips were already broken upon delivery. What’s some names of moves to practice in small spaces. I have a 8x8 floor now. Need to level it a little more. Might build A border around it. The tape works for today.

Been there! On 8x8 I usually stick to footwork, spins, and slides. What’s your favorite move to drill in small spaces?

@Nico R Haha that’s totally fine 😄 Just riding and getting comfortable is way more important than knowing names. Once you start exploring small spaces, you’ll naturally pick up moves you like.
Intro
Hey 👋🏻 I’m Cheyenne, a junior at UNT on my way to my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. I have a 4yo son who is super high energy. My newest hobby is roller derby, started in October. I’ve leveled up but need more practice and want to be an actual bouter. I need new skates and hope to get them but my birthday this summer. Can’t wait to hone my skills with this group!

Welcome, Cheyenne! Roller derby is no joke, leveling up that fast is impressive. Hope you get those birthday skates and become a bouter real soon.

@Cheyenne Kingston Haha I feel that 😅 July feels so far away when you’re excited. Have you checked local derby groups or Facebook Marketplace? Sometimes there are great gently used finds there.
New skate suggestions??
I'm looking to invest in some new skates this year. My go to's are sure grip stardust roller skates or just some Impala's when I'm trying to be affordable. Does anybody have suggestions for intermediate skaters? I skate mostly outdoors btw.

If you’re outdoors a lot, wheels and boot support matter as much as the brand. People swear by Sure-Grip Boardwalks for outdoor cruising, and a lot of folks like Moxi Lolas if you want something comfy that still handles rougher pavement.

@Liz Fillmore That makes total sense! Wheels and plate really change outdoor skating. I’ve heard the Boardwalks are perfect for wider feet, seems like a good call if comfort is key while cruising outside.
