Happy holidays!
Warmest wishes! Closing out the year with one last sketch.
Happy holidays!
A addendum to today's (November 5th, 2025) coffee hangout
I know this post has nothing to do with Blender/Python. Thanks in advance to Victor Stepanov for understanding. 1. Regarding Artificial Intelligence - i'm afraid, there was a misunderstanding and i want to explain: The country where I live and work (at least for now...) is a member of the European Union (EU). When the EU enacts new laws (or regulations), these supersede national legislation. This means that national laws are irrelevant if there are specific EU laws for the respective area. The EU is known for viewing anything digital that doesn't originate within the EU itself as "evil," and AI is considered pure devil anyway. However, this is solely due to the fact that they themselves failed to set the appropriate course in education, trade, and industry in a timely manner. If I were to start acquiring the necessary knowledge in AI now, I would constantly have to reckon with the possibility that using AI would be prohibited by law the very next day. In today's Hangout, we talked a lot about AI, and I was surprised by how positively you all view it. I don't mean to belittle that, but from my perspective, it looks very differentβ€”if I have to expect that I might no longer be able to use AI at any time. Keeping this in mind, where is the sense for me to get the necessary knowledge about using AI? 2. To Robert McBride: I found your hints about physics (electrophysical?) very interesting. Since I'm new to this, could you perhaps explain the background/basics to me in a few short sentences? In a very general way? If so, thank you very much! 3. To Gregory Tada: Regarding your questions about solar energy, please send me one (or two) suggested times for a video call to markus@my-dwarf.com. I promise I'm not trying to sell you anything, just have a technical discussion. Finaly, again thanks to VIctor for understanding to use your platform for this issues.

Markus, I apologize I don't visit this site as often as I should, and I just saw this post. Yes, I would still love to chat with you and will email you.
What hardware (CPU, GPU, RAM) are you running Blender on?
I just printed an upgrade for my pc πŸ˜‰ She is praying that I don't hit F12, because I am running Blender on an mini-pc with an AMD Ryzen 9 7940HX with integrated Radeon Graphic (no dedicated graphics card). I think about buying an graphic card - but only a low profile & low power consuming one would fit/work into the case ... or an new pc - but the prices are pretty crazy now. Let's wait & see where my new journey into the world of Blender goes.

My main workstation is pretty powerful, but I also run Blender on an older Lenovo P71 with a Xeon, Quadro P3000, and 64 gigs of RAM. It's probably 8 years old now, but it still runs Blender very well.
Did anyone of you - ever used the Data Transfer modifier?
I just saw this vid - and I am not seeing me ever using this modifier. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eu9abP0LIb8 I am not an experienced blender user - but imho I think there are better ways to achieve the results of an Data Transfer modifier.

I use it sometimes when I have a smooth subd surface and want a detail in the middle of it. It's hard to build it into the main surface without messing up that main surface.
Blender 5.0 error (modifying blend data)
I understand that it probably is standard growing pains between versions, so learning scripting should probably keep me working in blender 4.5. I was noticing a lot of commands in the bpy.ops line of commands like bpy.ops.mesh.primitive_ico_sphere_add() and bpy.ops.mesh.primitive_plane_add() and even things like editing a material's diffuse_color was returning "cannot modify blend data in this state (drawing/rendering)" All my attempts to be in the correct state have failed on those operations, when running the script in the text editor window. I haven't seen any recent chatter on this case after the version's release. So I was wondering, is there was any way to appease the error with a workflow change?

After reading your post I tried my add-on and found that 5.0 broke it as well. I'll be jumping in to fix it.
