Confidence isn’t bravery
So many people look to build their confidence with bravery when they come to a clinic or lessons. But the truth is you don’t need to be brave to be confident. In fact trying to be brave can often knock confidence. Confidence comes when you have answers. When you know what to do next. When you have done something enough that it becomes easy. Horses are predictable - when you know them well - so time builds confidence. Practice builds confidence. Find the people that help you with the answers. Just pushing thru won’t always cut it. You need to know what, why, when.

Night rides
Does anyone else ever have the urge to ride in the middle of the night lol or is it just me?

No. But I have and I can tell you that horses on trails at night see well and perform well. This is my experience. I contribute this to the fact that in my area the world became quiet and easy to manage during the night.

Nice clip.
I want my horse to…
Expectation is the quickest way to damage your relationship with your horse. I had someone say ‘I want to make my horse lay down’ this week. Just the language alone tells me a lot about what’s going to happen here. When we replace ‘make’ with teach or allow it changes the intention, therefore the energy. Also different horses for courses….the lay down is not for every horse. Some horses are way too sensitive for lay down straight up. They need a whole lot of preparation. To learn to trust, to come off pressure, to learn feel. Some take time, some take to it straight away. It’s horses for courses.
