Yarn
Hello, I want to know where my Aussie friends get their yarn from. I have now finished a few projects, which means I am thinking about my next project haha but I would like it to be cotton or bamboo or something natural. My last one was acrylic, which was OK for a scarf, but would prefer natural fibers.

I'm about to dive in and try to find the yarn and hope I don't get distracted.

@Chris Muggleton love it. Gee your tension looks even, great work. I have only successfully crocheted a couple of toys where you can't see uneven tension. I'm not a strong crocheter, you have my 👏👏
Pressed flowers
Sometimes it happens with a roll of tape, a handful of pressed flowers, and an afternoon of slowing down. Lately I’ve been decorating my journal with clear tape and flowers I’ve pressed from my garden. There’s something deeply satisfying about preserving something that was once so vibrant and giving it a new place to tell a story. Each flower reminds me that beauty doesn’t disappear just because a season ends. It changes. It deepens. It becomes part of something new. As I carefully place each petal, I realize this process feels a lot like what God does with us. He doesn’t waste the beautiful moments, the broken moments, or even the ordinary ones. He lovingly presses them into the pages of our lives, creating a story that becomes richer over time. This little creative project has also reminded me of the importance of slowing down. We don’t always have to be producing, achieving, or checking another box. Sometimes our souls need quiet moments to create, reflect, and simply enjoy beauty. For me, this isn’t just decorating a journal. It’s practicing gratitude. It’s noticing beauty. It’s remembering that every season leaves something worth keeping

This looks lovely. So you dry the flowers in your press first then sandwich them in wide sticky tape?
Creative Cottagers: A Little Challenge
This weekend, let's make some time to do something creative that is just for our own enjoyment... Sometimes our creativity takes on a mission because we have an Etsy shop, a market stall, or a community we need to produce for. But what about creating just for enjoyment's sake? When was the last time you fully settled into a creative space just for you—simply because you love it? This weekend, who's in on the challenge to put themselves first and do something that fuels their creative fire? It might be taking yourself on a creative date like visiting an art exhibition, picking up some crochet or knitting, working on a paper craft, getting out those water colours that are collecting dust or finally finishing that journal you've been dreaming about! What could you do this weekend for the creative you? THE CHALLENGE: 1. Commit: Post a comment below about what you plan to do. 2. Capture: Come back and post a photo right here of you in action. 3. Share: Make a separate post about what you did and how it felt, along with a photo. 🌟 Do all 3 and one winner (chosen by random selection) will get a special little gift via SNAIL MAIL! 💌 Tagging the makers below! Apologies for the big tag. I'd just like to see who is still around > comment if you see this and no pressure if you can't join the challenge. @Brickell Sands @Brynn A @Aimee Beth @Abheeti Kathryn Pass @Alyssa Furukawa @Georgi Allan @Andréanne Brault @Casey Balkcom @Debra Verrall @Deanna Krueger @Eliza Eliza @Ellie Hill @Janelle Embree @Fred Tyre @Caroline Fransz @Tiffany Hall @Hilary L @Roslyn Hill @Kate Bullock @Kathy Roberts @Katy Thorne @Jenna Kelly @Leatta Leake @Luniver Lago @Lynn Shields @Hilary L @Judy Lange @Mama Torres @Marie L Crawford @Melinda Timmerding @Michelle Bradford

@Stephanie Kara oh goodness, the garden is asleep at the moment. No flowers, just green stuff that should have been pruned back. When it wakes up I will certainly take some pics. The only thing I can take a photo of is a half done little girl's vest and a nearly done baby quilt.
Welcome to a super creative lady and a personal friend...
What a lovely Sunday surprise to come home and find a familiar name at The Creative Cottage door! Let's give @Georgi Allan a big cottage welcome! Georgi and I have known each other for many, many years since before we had babies! Years later we live on opposite sides of Australia = and that happens to be a huge distance but we've always stayed connected over the years, and often through our creativity! Hey Georgi tell everyone a little about yourself, where you live, your creative ventures, and don't forget your cottage garden!

@Shaz Jones only when I have to mention a footy team. We have grandsons that live footy so we picked a team to connect with them and it would have been boring to support the same team. But I'm not really into sport that much, I love the quiet of crafting and nature and gardening more.

OK Steph in my usual backwards way I only just read your comment. Yes, we now live on opposite sides of the continent, but all that proves is that close proximity isn't a prerequisite for friendship right? I started sewing as a young adult when I realised my dream of going to Africa to deliver babies, be a voice for the voiceless and die an early death wasn't going to happen since I had decided to marry a concreter. I had never been a creative, failing both art and craft at school but then I found myself expecting a baby (also a surprise) so suddenly started channelling this inner 'creative earthmover sewer/gardener'. I love to grow food which gets shared with community, flowers, and sew and knitted. I give my things away, never charging for any of it. Although I did donate a handknitted blanket to a friend's fundraiser which sold at auction for $300 - aahh, the power of competition and way too many drinks! And that's me.

A little bit of yarning, a little bit sewing, giving anything a go. But definitely without perfection.
