Talento, from Mendittorosa, surprised me. I sprayed a decant from Scent Split, and right away I thought of Mugler cologne. That fresh, green opening that leads into a clean, musky heart immediately reminded me of the original. The top is bright with aldehydes and mint. It feels fresh and soapy clean. The rose, which at first comes off as slightly grandma, creates an accord with geranium that is very appealing and continues to a clean musk, which I find intoxicating. Then the dry down comes through: oakmoss, cedar, and patchouli, adding sort of a woody earthiness, not my fave. I wish it held on to the musky heart for longer. Where Talento falls short for me is longevity. On my skin, it fades much faster than I expected. It doesn’t last with the character that drew me in, and at a $385 bottle, I was expecting more. It will announce itself well and have others asking you what you are wearing. If they like a rose-mint combo, you will be complimented because it is quite unique. However, Mugler, by comparison, is a fraction of the price and lasts much longer, carrying that green-musk signature throughout the day.
