Day 163: Failed Tracking Session 🤦‍♂️
I tried to get some tracking in today but honestly it all went a bit wrong. Firstly the weather was not ideal. The ground is hard from the sun and the grass is very dry. It was actually quite hard to see my track at all. Then when I attempted it with Lupe it just wasn't going to plan. He is trying to go too fast and I don't think the current training plan/methodology is suiting him honestly. I have a tracking one to one booked later this month. I think I'll persevere a little more but if it doesn't turn around soon I'll probably speak to them about trying something different.

That does sound frustrating. I've had days like that with Rogue and it really plays on my mind. How are you setting up your tracks and are you using one or 2 leads? Rogue still goes fast but I think it takes time to slow them down. I've started adding little 'jack pots' into my track where there are handfuls of food that I have dug in to try and slow her down. I can take a video of how I set mine up later if that helps? I've still not perfected my routine and feel my legs get tired laying it on long track but hopefully I will get there.

@Nick Benger yeah, I tried to go back to that method to slow her down but she was just to strong for it. I am now with 2 leads behind her with the jack pots that she has to find on the track to try and slow her down.
Day 149: Tracking & Muzzle
Two sessions for Lupe today. Beginning with the obligatory two scent pads (doing this every day for a week) which is getting smoother. He isn't trying to walk or move around with his feet at all now, just using his nose. Then this evening I did a session with the muzzle which he is now wearing for around 5 - 10 seconds per rep. Forward on all fronts 💪 Milestone day tomorrow too.

Sounds positive with two training sessions 💪🏻 What's your aim after a week of doing scentpads?

@Nick Benger that sounds pretty positive. I seem to struggle with Rogue stopping and lifting her head to eat so now working on her keeping her head down while she eats her treasures.
Rogue training
We have had a fairly busy week and went to a protection workshop which was very interesting and loved watching the more experienced dogs but, I always feel silly asking questions. However, we walked away with some homework to work on. We have also been to Jenny's this week and am very pleased with Rogue as she was tracking on more difficult ground and we are moving on with out article indications.

@Nick Benger Joel Edery and thanks.
Day 144: IGP Tracking Day
Today was my first IGP Tracking session with Jenny Richards. Conveniently she lives less than an hour from me and it's actually a very pleasant drive, no motorways at all. I only wish I would have started tracking with Jenny sooner. This is the same mistake I made with Onyx, people told me not to rush, you can get started in dog sports when they're older. Trust me, ignore those people. You will find yourself behind the pack, playing catch up and annoyed at all the time you missed. I have obviously done some tracking with Lupe already but I should have gone to Jenny from the start. This would have saved me from making mistakes. Thankfully, I don't think I've done anything particularly problematic. Of course, I don't want to butcher Jenny's methods with any attempt to explain them - nor would it be fair for me to do so. What I will say is Jenny's method is very physical for the human 😅 I think I will have sore legs tomorrow. There also little details, which I think will have big effects. Super interesting. Thanks for the referral @Charmaine Willis. Also, @Jenna Owen avoid my mistake!

Haha I always wonder why my calves seem to ache and then I lay a track the next day and I'm reminded. 😂 Glad it went well and it sounds like you have alot of homework!
Day 26&27 Rogue - Blind search, holds, articles and heelwork
I need accountability to post our training as I'm rubbish at it😂 I feel like I am posting the same feedback but we did some blind searches at the field today and moved the poles out further. She coped quite well except she keeps checking in at me in-between them so I need to fix that. Heelwork we took our first steps at the field today and she followed so I'm happy she has picked up the picture of it. Holds and articles I don't have much to report further from my last post :) https://www.instagram.com/stories/tank_char_adventures/3561175471316700578?igsh=MXBueXdleGZlazByYw==

I recently (last 2 years) found IGP with my rescue dog. I am now currently training my GSD puppy for IGP and studying veterinary physiotherapy.
