🚨 ER PRIORITY QUESTION
🚨 ER PRIORITY QUESTION A patient arrives to the ER with: • Severe chest pain • Shortness of breath • Pale, diaphoretic skin 👉 What is the FIRST nursing priority? A️⃣ Apply oxygen B️⃣ Assess airway C️⃣ Obtain ECG D️⃣ Start IV access ✅ Correct Answer: B — Assess airway 🧠 Explanation: In the ER, we always follow the ABCs (Airway, Breathing, Circulation). Airway comes first. If the airway is not patent, nothing else matters. Once the airway is secured, assess breathing and apply oxygen if needed. ECG and IV access are important, but they come after ensuring airway and breathing. 🔑 Key ER Rule: Treat what can kill the patient first.

Cellulitis: Nutrition & Supportive Care 🩺
🦠 Antibiotics are the main treatment for cellulitis — but proper nutrition and nursing care can support faster healing 💪 🥩 Protein – helps tissue repair • Chicken, fish, eggs • Lentils, chickpeas 🍊 Vitamin C – boosts immunity & wound healing • Oranges, kiwi, bell peppers 🥬 Zinc – supports skin repair • Nuts, pumpkin seeds, meat 🥕 Vitamin A – maintains healthy skin • Carrots, sweet potatoes, spinach 🥛 Probiotics (especially with antibiotics) • Yogurt, kefir, laban 💧 Hydration • Adequate water & soups 🚫 Avoid • High-sugar foods • Processed foods 🩺 Nursing tips • Elevate the affected limb • Mark and monitor redness borders • Watch for fever or spreading erythema ⚠️ Nutrition supports healing but does NOT replace antibiotics. 💬 Question: What nursing intervention do you always prioritize first in cellulitis patients?

Your story might save someone else. ✨ Real learning comes from real cases.

🩺 ER SKILL CHECK – Answer & Rationale
✅ Correct first priority: B – Assess airway Why: In emergency care, airway always comes first (ABC: Airway → Breathing → Circulation). Patient has low oxygen saturation (86%) and cold, clammy skin, which may indicate hypoxia or shock. Once airway is secured, you can apply oxygen, check vitals, and call the physician. 💡 Tip for practice: Always follow ABC approach in ER. Quick airway assessment can save lives before any other interventions.
