Microsoft Fabric Project Advice: Getting into the Thick of It
This is a great article by Paul Turley (MVP) - I agree with a lot of it! In the article, Paul talks about: - Embracing OneLake/ Fabric - Choosing Your Data Engine (Spark or T-SQL?) - Enterprise Adoption Roadmaps - Designing for scalability - Road to governed self-service maturity - Adopting an architectural pattern that is right your unique organizational requirements - CI/CD strategy (including TMDL-based Power BI projects) - Grow with the Platform - an answer to the "is Fabric ready for production?" debate. šŸ‘‰šŸ”— Read the full article here: https://sqlserverbi.blog/2024/10/17/microsoft-fabric-project-advice-getting-into-the-thick-of-it/ Let me know your thoughts below šŸ‘‡

@Will Needham POC went well soon we will be in development. Few things like cicd pipelines and code movement from workspace to workspace movement need to finger out b/c I found issues in workspace to workspace movement. If you know good step by step guide let me know.
SEPTEMBER FABRIC UPDATES ANNOUNCED (FabCon2024)
So now we have confirmation of the new features that are being launched at FabCon. There are three main places to look: - The September 2024 Fabric Update Blog - Arun Ulag's summary of the announcements, which is also useful - If you like video, you can watch the Microsoft YouTube video on the updates: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sWQMlt9ikE0 It will take a few hours (or days/ weeks) to digest everything that's in there, but a few that caught my eye on first look: General: - Git Integration is now GA - New Fabric Terraform provider has been released (Preview), to enable infrastructure-as-code/ automation. - Access Databricks Unity Catalog tables from Fabric (public preview) Data Warehouse - T-SQL NOTEBOOKS! This is really cool - and opens up new options for Data Analytics (who know T-SQL), I mentioned this in my latest video. - Delta column mapping in the SQL analytics endpoint (public preview) - this allows users to be a bit more liberal with column names (including spaces, if that's your jam) Data Engineering - Support for spaces in Lakehouse Delta table names - T-SQL Endpoint now working on Lakehouse with Schemas (but Lakehouse Schemas still preview: use with caution!).

Interesting Fabric experience
I wanted to share experience, I am working on Fabric on POC, POC was 80% done and i was loading my gold data into delta table, since I wanted to filter delta table i decide to create view in Warehouse and calling delta table within view so i can use lookup or script task or copy activity so i can filter data before sending to destination tables. destination was sql server which was in azure VM. After that i created pipeline and use copy activity source was view and destination was sql server db tables. when i was running it was giving me firewall error. i started investigating and in couple of days found out some how fabric is not able to pull data from view if i am calling delta table within view if you are using copy activity. huh it was insane. then i step back and created logic to load data directly from delta table as source and it started working great. Anyone went through this situation?

@Will Needham Connection was all good that i am saying. this happened when i am wrapping deltatable in view and make source in copy activity and destination is sql server which in azure VM then firewall error come. If i use source deltatable directly in copy activity and destination is sql server on VM then it works great.

@Will Needham if you can do small POC on this case that will be great. So we can make sure this scenario is same for all.
NEW EVENT (Saturday 31st Aug!) - learn about Fabric Dojo
So... this is some exciting news to share. For the last 3 months or so, I've been building a secret new project, called Fabric Dojo. The Private Preview stage is now complete (thanks to the 10+ of you that have been testing it!), so now it's time to share it with the world šŸŽ‰šŸ„³ So what exactly is Fabric Dojo? Fabric Dojo is a brand-new community I am launching here on Skool, to train the next (first?) generation of Fabric Analytics Engineers and Data Engineers. The community is 100% hands-on, with new tutorials, projects and challenges each month. Over time, you'll gain the skills and practical experience you need to feel confident and competent building robust analytical systems in Fabric. All with constant support from myself and the community! Want to learn more? I'll be hosting a webinar on Saturday 31st August to tell you all about it. Meeting Link: Teams Link Datetime of the meeting: Los Angeles - Sat, 31 August 2024, 08:00:00 PDT New York - Sat, 31 August 2024, 11:00:00 EDT London - Sat, 31 August 2024, 16:00:00 BST Dubai - Sat, 31 August 2024, 19:00:00 GST Mumbai Sat, 31 August 2024, 20:30:00 IST Sydney Sun, 01 September 2024, 01:00:00 AEST Here's some sneak peek pictures to hopefully get you excited šŸ˜‰ see you all on Saturday!
