Hey everyone, in the spirit of the group posting their ads on here for review, I wanted to see what your take on this one is. My wife and I made this last fall right after getting the machine here in Alaska. This was before I found Austin and this group and photos weren't bringing anything in and we didn't know what we were doing, but we knew we needed before and after and action videos. My wife did the voice over because we didn't think about doing that out there. We also didn't put any text in the video. So this was a boosted post. We paid about $1200 over about 2 months starting in November last fall (2025) and it brought in over $12k worth of work before the snow got too deep to do anything and before it got old and didn't work anymore. We're working on a new one from the stuff we're learning on this school group, once I can get access to land through the ice and snow. What are your honest thoughts on this? We're really curious what you all think! This has been quite the journey and we're learning more all the time!

If this was before you found the group, looks like you’ve got entrepreneurial traits in your veins! I agree with the previous comments, captions go a long way. Also, maybe a low volume music of sorts. What aspect ratio is this video in? I think 9:16 is best for videos on apps like Facebook and TikTok. Great content!!

@John Tyznik absolutely brotha. Keep doing what you’re doing
What I’ve learned
Not that the whole training isn't worth its weight in gold, but what really sealed the deal and made this attainable for me, was when I learned Crew Day Pricing from the Crew day pricing video. I took action by implementing real numbers into my business. As a result, I was able to see what I would have costs wise, vs income. I started out with napkin math with what I thought were realistic numbers. Then, to be solid and secure, I went out, got an actual quote on a machine with mulching head and forestry kit, I got numbers for a 20k trailer, figured my fuel costs, maintenance and wear, mobilization costs and got quotes on insurance from GL all the way up to Inland Marine and workman’s comp. Moving forward, I will do more of real numbers talk. Napkin math is great, but it can be blind leading the blind and I will do less of worrying about what could be realistic and how to get there, rather than implementing real life scenarios and numbers. You get nowhere questioning everything. It’s good to be calculated, but when that calculation turns into procrastination, I found myself setting myself back. I started to be my biggest issue. Taking the small step to go out and actually get quotes to run real numbers changed a lot for me. I then ordered door hangers, business cards, and got my website in the process of being made. I advertised to friends and family, and tried to compromise with Facebook on advertising to strangers. When Facebook kept removing my posts, I pivoted and started going out, talking to people and hanging door hangers. I listened to Austin’s comment of “If $1500 is going to sink your business, you’re not ready for Facebook ads.” Hearing that, I realized I am ready for Facebook ads, and it would probably be more beneficial with his videos on how to set all that up. I think doing that, I can reach who I want to reach, without jumping through all the different hoops and rules of various Facebook groups. That’s what I’ve learned and it’s just the beginning. Thank you to @AustinGray and his team.

@Cliff McRae I just put all my numbers together as accurately as possible with the real numbers from the quotes. I have yet to do paid ads and really see what the demand is around my area. Right now we’ve got road closures and 12” of snow so I can’t continue to do the door hangers. Off to paid ads I go I guess! I put all the numbers together basically to prove to myself it is a feasible plan and prep myself for what I need as far as jobs per month.

@James Louros haven’t had a call yet, didn’t get nearly enough out. Found myself in the wrong area. Had some good conversations with people though! Could be potential leads once our snow all melts. We just got like 8” dumped on us last night lol
3 quotes on my 1st week of running ads
It's actually quite insane that the ads performed this well. And I know next week will be different, but i was able to go out and do same day quotes (Clients LOVE this) get on their land and walk it, talk it, and fill the spot of 'EXPERT" in their mind. How many other contractors do you think walked their land? probably none, that puts you in the best position to close and that's how I'm 3 for 3 right now. Now that i have 3 large jobs on my schedule I really want to go buy the machine, but my 2009 5.7L tundra 4x4 probably can't tow it. I think it can tow 11,000lbs or something. So new truck + trailer + skid + attachment is a little bit of a big investment. Maybe my progressions will look like Month 1 - buy 2 acres to store debris/equipment Month 2 - buy trailer Month 3 - Buy bigger truck Month 4- Buy skid + attachment. Anyone else in a similar position? I know i have to take the risk of financing the machine but the 0% interest is pretty nice & on some of these bigger brands and the warranty may be something this business wouldn't run with out. Thanks for listening to me rant. but in all honesty II couldn't have done it without this group, thanks again to @Austin Gray @Jacob Neffendorf for always quickly responding to my posts. If your in the early stages of this, keep going and listen to Austin and Jacob they are amazing and you can really tell that Austin spent the time building this skool group properly. As a skool group owner myself with 1.5k members, I can tell you @Austin Gray is the real deal and I followed all his advice and his SOP's to land me those 3 large clients my first week. Thanks again! And my favorite quotes to leave you off with: "I suppose there ain't much I can tell you that them mountains can't tell you better"

Congrats on going 3 for 3! Do you mind me asking what you set your advertising per day rate at? Also, I would get the machine first if anything. Renting a truck and a trailer will always be cheaper than renting the equipment. Do you have insurances set up yet?

@James Louros I’m still waiting on Google to overturn my suspension or I’d be doing those as well. Just building the website right now and working on Facebook ads
Phone/camera mounts
What phone mounts or video/mount platforms seems to be the beat for mounting in equipment?

If you are going to invest in cameras aside your phone, PLEASE don’t go with GoPro. I use them on other interests I have and they corrupt footage left and right, get too cold/hot and shut off. A MUCH better option (cheaper too, just as good of quality if not better) is the DJI Action 5 & 6 cameras. They’re consistent, resilient and affordable. They also come with an insane amount of attachments. You can find them on Amazon with attachment kits.
