Disrobing
We are dealing with a number of students engaging in sexually inappropriate behavior (mostly removal of clothing). Often these behaviors are attention-seeking, but not always. Sometimes it is a combination of attention and escape. I am interested to know how other school-based BCBAs attack this challenge.

Disrobing is taking place in a 6/7th grade multi-handicapped classroom. It is my understanding that the student will do whatever it takes to get sent home. Unfortunately, schools and their personnel are limited in their choice of intervention. Currently, the teacher holds a blanket up in front of the student to limit the exposure to other students and staff. With this particular student, prevention strategies are applied consistently, but rarely work. As noted above, the student will do whatever it takes to be sent home. Staff are no longer sending her home for these behaviors. After the most recent incident (a little over a week ago), she has not returned to school. We have received word from staff at her living facility that she is in hospital awaiting placement in a residential unit.

In this case I do, because the individual is doing it for "shock value" when the male principal comes in to help. :(
Fair-Pair skill building in school based supports
Context: Historically I consulted for multiple districts and had several functions providing behavioral supports within the school system but I stepped away from doing that on a daily/weekly/monthly level back in 2015 so it has been a while since I was extremally active in that space although I still get a couple learners a year but they tend to be at the tail end of the most severe situation that schools pretty much are at the point of willing to try anything legal and ethical. But in talking to other behavior analysts, it appears that they are having a really hard time getting their fair-pairs written in to IEP's and that they are having to work through the other team members to get the fair-pairs written in to their sections. They can still put them in their BSP/BIP but they have near zero control over frequency requirements of practice/etc, since it is removed from the IEP requirements. My fear when I was primally in this space was the behavior analyst role on the team would be reduced to "behavior reduction", it sounds like this is starting to formally happen at least in some districts. When behavior reduction is a biproduct of behavioral expansion, anything that limits behavioral expansion from occurring is scary to me. Question: Is it your experience that getting support for skill building for fair-pairs in the school system is not happening readily? If so how are you approaching this in your role?

Of the 25 active FBA/BIPs on my caseload, less than half are for students on IEPs or 504s. It was never really an issue with MOST of the SPED teachers . . .

We have the teachers/principals fill out a google form that starts the process. This is followed by an environmental observation. If we make the determination that an FBA/BIP is needed, we obtain informed consent and start data collection.

I am a BCBA, of course I ALWAYS handle behavior appropriately and NEVER have a "human moment." 😉😇
School-Based BCBAs
Realizing, of course, that the bulk of the members are in clinic, would it be possible to add a category/section for school-based BCBAs? What we do differs significantly from clinic, and I would like to ensure the school-based BCBAs are supported as much as possible. ~Thank you.
