My VA Mistake 3 Months Ago is a Good Cautionary Tale

I run Leopoldus Law, APC out of Los Angeles. Last Tuesday, I was heading to the Sports Lawyers Association's 49th Annual Conference. I was arriving a day before my associate and I had paid for my associate, got her airline ticket, got my airline ticket, and the hotel reservation. So, after landing, I went to the front desk to check in at our hotel reservations, and there was just ONE hotel room at the conference hotel. So, I'm feverishly looking around. Of course the hotel made the error, not myself, right? EXCEPT... IT WAS MY FAULT. I caused the problem because I was the one setting the hotel reservation! I remember when I made it, it was about 11.30 pm one night. I had had a long day of work, and it was the last day to really get that Conference right, so I rushed through and only made ONE reservation. Luckily, I'm on the board of the Sports Lawyers Association, so by pulling a few strings and working with our Executive Director, I was able to get a room just a few blocks away. It's a nice hotel, but my error caused a lot of turmoil in something that I didn't need to do. That first night, I met up with @Jason Plotkin who lives in Baltimore, and we grabbed a soda pop to catch up. His recommendation, "you gotta share that with the community." So, here I am. It was one of those trigger moments when I realized I needed another VA. We hire VAs to do many different things, such as managing our emails, helping with intake, and maybe getting some other stuff done. I have four of them but not one to handle these things. I told Jason that when I got back, I was going to hire a personal assistant VA, which is exactly what I did this morning.
