English for accounting
Hi there! I met and helped out a young man here in France recently who's going to sit an oral exam in a little over a week to become an accountant. He needs help practicing speaking for this specific exam. Does anyone here specialise in business English/English for accountants ? Or do you know where he could find someone quickly to help him boost his speaking and listening comprehension ? I'm not sure if this is the right place, and I'm happy to delete the post if not.

Hi there Lori. Thank you for your reply! He actually does understand what is being said and can reply. He just needs to practice for the specific types of interactions that will be asked of him during said exam with a fluent English speaker who knows the business English lingo. :)
Was Krashen right, 40 years later?
Was Krashen right, 40 years later? It's a question we'll ask the legendary Bill VanPatten later today. We're thrilled and honoured to interview Bill for our Teacher Talking Time podcast and will get into many things.Krashen's theories for many reasons are still quite contentious in our field. Bill co-authored a paper with Lichten in 2021 reviewing Krashen's Monitor Theory 40 years on. We'll start there, but there's so much to discuss with Bill. We're even more thrilled since Bill is actually retired and agreed to come on the show. I'm curious, what would you love to ask Bill? Are there any particular language concepts or theories you're itching for him to dive deeper into? Drop your questions below ๐Ÿ‘‡ and I'll make sure to bring them up during our chat.๐Ÿ™ƒ

Kids - where my party people at?
Hi! So ok, here's the thing: I love your podcast, I've binged on a TON of the episodes, I love your approach, I love listening to the speakers you invite on, your courses and offers sound amazing. Awesome. But (you saw it coming) I work with kids. I'm starting up my business teaching KIDS English (in France, not online). Trying to make it profitable from the start, and always grappling with the beloved imposter syndrome <3 So here are my two questions: -What can you do TODAY to define your niche (nah jk those are your questions) -Where my party people at? That is to say, where are the people who have a similar approach but for kids? Or am I seriously going to have to create my own podcast? Because let's face it, kids are a whole other ball game. Does the extensive research exist?? I've looked for it time and time again, I can't find it. Are we seriously just letting everyone teach kids English without even knowing what works? -Do y'all only help people wanting to build up online businesses? Because I'm not so sure that's my thing, but I still love what you do. Thanks for being there and showing us another way is possible.

@Robin Plampton Hahaha, no, no cornering necessary! I'm sure the people at the talk thought it was great and are now sowing its seeds all over ;)

Brittany, France. Pushed forward by a passion for social justice & education as a tool to evolve, hindered by imposter syndrome.
