Day 8 - Extending time on place
Cannoli knows places pretty well, in the sense when I say the word he goes to his place. However, what I need to work on more is extending his time on place, and not leaving until he gets the break command. We worked on this a bit. Having him go to place, and then when he got off I walked him back. After a handful or so of attempts, he seems to have gotten it a bit. He’s now staying longer on place( couple minutes). Still needs a lot more work, but I’m happy to see some results!

@Nick Benger so I’ve been keeping him on a leash in the house so he can’t attack food, trash, but now he’s eating his leash 😫
Daily training - Day 7?
I think I’m on day 7? Close enough anyway. It’s pretty cold out here. We worked inside the house on reinforcing basic commands. We practiced: Sit Down Sit (from a down) Stay Touch Place

I have two main issues right now. Food theft - from anywhere able. Last week he snatched a slice of pizza out of my hand. While he’s in his pen ( like an 8 foot round circle in the house) if the kids start playing or running, he starts barking like crazy because he wants to play. Not a mean bark, but high pitched, loud and annoying bark. Need him to be able to relax in his area while the kids are running around.
Daily training - day 5
This week has been a bit hectic with work, not as much time. During a break today I worked on some simple sit, down and wait commands. Wait is a crucial one for me. I don’t want the dogs doing something, like leaving the car, or running out of the door impatiently. Having them ‘wait’ lets them know they will be leaving where they are, but when you’re ready to do so, not when they are.
Day 4 - extended stays, go touch, entering a room
Hey all! Today we continued our work on extended stays. Had him sit on a platform, walked about 10-12 feet away, and we got him to stay in a sit for one whole minute! We also worked on ‘go touch’. He loves this game. Stick a spoon in a traffic cone, have them go touch the cone, then recall them back. Today we worked on this from a farther distance. Being a puppy, Cannoli still loses his mind in walking into a room with other dogs. He gets excited and wants to play, starts immediately barking. We practiced walking in and out of a room with dogs waiting on the other side, while working to keep his attention on me.
