Two weeks ago, Vegan Squad Sponsored Athlete Rosie won her Pro Card in her first show ever as a vegan natural bodybuilder
I always give each client when they sign the benefit of the doubt. I assume that they want this. That they are ready to show up for themselves. That they will go the distance. The reality is most people don’t have what it takes. To get on stage in basically no clothing, spend months eating food tracked religiously with a food scale, doing up to hours of cardio a day, it’s not for the weak of mind or body - and specifically for vegans - the soul. I do believe vegans have a distinct competitive advantage. And Rosie has pushed this as far as possible. Becoming an activist gives you an edge unlike any other. When the goal and dream is bigger than your own self, you find ways to do things you never imagined you could do before. Thank you Rosie. This has been the best experience it could have been, and we’re not done. Let’s keep pushing!

Leucine supps?
Hey all! Just curious if anyone uses leucine supplement to make sure you get the full 2.5-3 grams with each meal? Do you feel that is really necessary / does or did it help your gains?

@Kian Mokhtarian Not for general health/fitness, no, but if you're strongly focusing on optimization of muscle gain, insufficient leucine at meals can impact this from what I've read

@Kian Mokhtarian It's not complete proteins I'm worried about, it's the specific ratio and amount of leucine. Leucine is known as the "primary trigger" that stimulates the muscle growth process. You can theoretically maximize this growth signal by hitting a leucine threshold of 2.5-3g every 3 to 5 hours (basically with each meal) and while vegans definitely get complete proteins, there may be a lower amount of leucine specifically. SO i was just curious if anyone had any experience trying leucine supplementation when they have lower leucine meals, and if they've noticed any benefit!
The ☀️ One
Has anyone tried these? I’ve been seeing them all around the world in the vegan socials! Tell us what you think!! Bought the last one at my local.

I have tried it but it's way too real for me! Not a fan of the runny yolk 😅 I do like the brand Wunder Eggs that do hard boiled egg dupes and provide a packet of kala namak (black salt) to go with it and give it an eggy flavor - you should check those out!
Do dietary fats matter if I hit the rest of my macros?
Yes, of course. Calories in versus calories out. If you are taking in more calories than you're burning, you're going to be gaining weight. If you're taking in fewer calories than you're burning, you're going to be losing weight. So yes, fats matter. How much do they matter? Do we need to avoid them at all costs? I would say no. For both men and women, fats are essential for hormone production, skin health, brain health, and things along those lines. So you do want to include dietary fats. For women, I don't really like to take them under 35 to 40 grams of fat a day. For men, more like 45 to 50 grams. Those are kind of my bottom-line numbers.

Is there a upper limit (grams or % of total calories) for men/women that you recommend people stay under (assuming other macros are adjusted to keep total calories at goal)?
Travelling & Gratitude
It's been a minute since I have posted on the community, but I just wanted to share what I have been up to for those from here who do not follow me on instagram, if you do not you should. 😉 I have been travelling in and around Ireland for about 2.5 weeks for the second time, just got back to Canada last Saturday. First time eating my way around there as a vegan (four years vegan myself). Did some more sightseeing at the expense of 30K steps a day, did some street activism/outreach with my friends in Belfast, ate at a lot of vegan foodie places, and lost more weight, kept my routine in check while on the go. We are officially under 200 lbs/90kg. (Restarted my fitness journey at the end of 2024/beginning of 2025 at 250 lbs). I will be back to Europe again for Vegan Camp Out in England this summer so I will be eating and thriving again over there. I hope to share all that with you all whether it be here or through social media. Also plan on discovering more of the vegan goodness that exists in my own backyard in Newfoundland as well, and sharing it with you too. But I just wanted to write something as I feel like I have been so hyper focused on my life changing, mindset shifts (in many good ways) that I feel like I needed to express my gratitude to my biggest support in my life, the Squad Fam. From John reaching out to me last fall to encourage me to check out and join this awesome community of likeminded people, to Alex, Alexis, Ali, Jessica, Miranda, Melissa, and the whole team so many to name, you guys definitely are the reason that we are working towards thriving and living our best vegan lives. Thank you guys for being the light in this world, that is really needed. Let's continue to make this a vegan AF world and liberate all the animals, and be healthy and strong confident leaders this world really needs. I love seeing this grow and all the seeds that are sowed in the name of kindness and compassion to the animals we share this world with and one another. 💚🇨🇦 ☮️
