@Gina DeMarco lovely! They are all so different! I especially like the first one, it's very delicate and classic looking. Brilliant work!

Self portrait
Hello everyone! I hope you're all finding a way to be creative today! I started this last night (and stayed up way too late working on it) and it's the first self portrait that I've ever made. It's not finished but I am very happy with it so far. If anyone has made one of themselves, whether realism or abstract, please post below. I would love to see them. If you've never made one, give it a try! Who knows you better than you?

I did a self portrait last year. It took a moment for it to become "just another face" but once that happened it was fun. I love portraits, they're my favourite subject. It's always challenging but ultimately satisfying to capture the life in the face.

@Heleen Ligtelijn hi Helen - these are terrific! Such interesting styles. The first one especially looks like a 1960's movie star 😍
Challenge! Show Up & Create
Most artists don’t fail because of talent. They disappear. So let’s fix that. New challenge: Show Up & Create → 3x per week→ for 30 days→ post whatever you made (finished or messy) Rules: - No perfection - No overthinking - Just proof you showed up - Miss a day? Don’t quit. Just continue. This is about becoming someone who creates. Not someone who waits. I’m in too. Who’s joining?

@Sabine Devlin thank you, I'm glad you like it. The little flock of seagulls was my favourite bit to do.

@Kathryn Smith lovely sketch - might it turn in to prep for a more lengthy work? Such nice composition.......

I started a painting today, thought it started out really well and got excited! Then somehow it went downhill and I ended up paining over it completely. See my ‘progress’ and laugh with me about it. Do I deserve a glass of wine now?

I believe paintings have a life of their own - and sometimes we artists visit at the wrong time. But my goodness when you turn up at the right time for it to flow through and "become" isn't it a thrill?!?! Well done on being brave enough to take decisive action - and YES you deserve a glass of wine ☺️

@Amy Rumble I do. They're really sweet.

@Amy Rumble me too. It's the biggest challenge. When I draw or paint something it doesn't seem special or accomplished because I did it. It always feels "home made" and therefore amateurish. A friend reminded me that for people who can't draw, paint, etc. it seems like an amazing feat that they could never do, so they view it in a different and more appreciative way. It's taken me a long time to grasp that but I'm starting to get it. I hope that helps xx

I'm a charcoal and pastel artist from Devon, in the UK. I love to draw and paint with them, despite the mess and risk to my apartment's decor!!
