Temperature Check
Pause the noise. Hang up your activism hat. …How are you? What’s on your mind? How are you feeling about the world, besides the obvious? And most importantly, How can I support you?

I've been better, but I'll survive.
A small thing you can do...
LGBTQIA2S+ friends and allies: Here is a free, small thing you can do. Send a note of love, hope, and solidarity to someone who's trans, nonbinary, intersex, or gender non-conforming. Who is scared and just needs to know that someone cares. My friend Rachel set up this site as a way for you to do that - and we need more volunteers! How it works: 1. Lovely people sign up to write letters and lovely people sign up to receive letters 2. Senders and receivers are matched 3. Letters are sent to The Love Letter Exchange for screening 4. Love letters come to you ♥️ If you ARE trans, nonbinary, intersex, or gender non-conforming: Do you need a message of hope? Fill out the form to receive love from the community. https://www.loveletterexchange.com/

@Rebecca Carlson that's a great question! Sharing far and wide is appreciated. Here's what's in place to minimize risk to participants: The only information that the recipients share about themselves is a name, email address, and an optional sentence or two about what they're experiencing. The only person who sees the email address is my friend Rachel. She also screens the contents of the letters before passing them on. Let me know if you have other questions, or you can also contact loveletterexchange@gmail.com

@Allison Saunders thank you, Allison!!
Hi I am Louis
Hi everyone! First thank you for the invite, Erin! I appreciate your continued support and the work you are doing for people! My name is Louis Byrd...husband, father, son...music producer (recovering R&B king...House/Soultronica is my thing now), technologist, designer, and futurist. I'm here to do my part in uplifting our shared communities. I dont have any social media accounts left, except LinkedIn...there is a Bluesky account...but I have not got into it. That said..I'm here to share, learn, and challenge the status quo. I apologize in advance for my sometimes over usage of GIFs....

MLK Day as a day of service
Great article in a local independent newspaper, asking the question of whether a day of service makes the structural impact that's needed in our communities. (Spoiler alert: It doesn't.) So my question for this community: Is a day of service better than nothing? Or does it just make us feel absolved from the real work of anti-racism? https://uticaphoenix.net/from-activism-to-a-day-of-service-reapporopriating-mlks-legacy/?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAAR1fapIGMD6GZ3orbWCuLFP-UC1payesfN8Wte612iDSVsHkC_D4HMbDkjg_aem_0xz71p3bkVLDJg1DQFwjww
Dear White Men Day 2 Awesomeness
Attended Day 2 of the Dear White Men series. Wow, awesome insights from all the speakers. I plan to connect with all of them. Was very interested in what Marc had to say about his experience with music. Thank you so much to all of the speakers for being so open and vulnerable and sharing wisdom that helps illuminate the work ahead. I'm really beginning to understand the importance and the magnitude of what is needed and that, as a white woman, I have a grave responsibility to not sit back and coast...not that I could coast TOO much (I am part of the LGBT alphabet soup and my partner is trans) but it certainly would be easy and possible sometimes. Again, thank you to all who are a part of this. I look forward to working together!

WHEEW, that was some good stuff yesterday. Two key takeaways for me: -Marc saying that White people need to quit trying to be antiracist so that Black people will like us, but because we want to make the world better for them. I struggle with needing people's approval, with not just wanting to be antiracist, but for people to KNOW that I'm "one of the good ones." Thaaaaaat's a problem. -Archita's statement that if we can't get it right at home, what are we even doing? My husband is a good man, attended the session with me yesterday, and it's NOT a situation of "canceling out his vote," thank god. But there is work for us to do individually and as a couple. And if I need to take the lead on that, then I'll take the lead on that.
