Seed Cycling
I am curious if anyone has experimented with Seed Cycling? I have been incorporating pumpkin, sunflower, and hemp seeds into my diet for some time now, and recently began experimenting with the Seed Cycling protocol. I am very much a rabbit, and a day without a salad is a sad day for me. I have been using the seeds as a topping and extra crunch in my salads. I have also added them to soups, and made dressings (better to soak them for this purpose) I found that flax and sesame are better when ground. The research I have done says that freshly ground is better, so I use a bullet blender with the small container. Works perfectly. I am wondering if any of you experimented with this long-term, and if you saw any benefits, especially when it comes to peri-menopausal symptoms? Here is my recipe: Phase 1 (Days 1-14 of cycle): * 1 tablespoon ground flax seeds * 1 tablespoon raw pumpkin seeds * 1 tablespoon hemp seeds * Total: 2 tablespoons daily Phase 2 (Days 15-28 of cycle): * 1 tablespoon ground sesame seeds * 1 tablespoon raw sunflower seeds * 1 tablespoon hemp seeds * Total: 2 tablespoons daily

Oh interesting! Too cold for salad's here. I use a lot of flax and chia on oats in the mornings.
Did you know that your gut microbes can make you crave certain foods?
Learn more in this article from Dr. Courtney Craig. I experience this in my explorations of intermittent fasting. When I get into a good pattern with fasting, I find myself craving vegetables like cauliflower and carrots. Intermittent fasting, when done properly and mindfully, actually resets and heals the gut micro biome . When I’m eating more frequently and not fasting as much, I start craving more bananas and sugary things. Have you noticed that the more fruits/carbohydrates you eat, the more you start craving those things? It’s because those carbs feed certain microbes and then those microbes make you crave more of the foods they like to eat. Isn’t that wild?! Some ideas for healing your gut, from the article above- “If your gut microbiome is fueling food cravings, especially sugar, rebalancing it is key. Here’s how: - Increase Fiber and Prebiotics – Support beneficial bacteria with resistant starches, flaxseeds, and low-glycemic carbohydrates. Add resistant starch to your diet to increase SCFAs. - Reduce Added Sugars Gradually – Cutting sugar too quickly can trigger intense cravings; stabilizing meals with protein and healthy fats helps. - Support Beneficial Bacteria – Eat probiotic-rich foods (fermented vegetables, unsweetened yogurt) or take high-quality probiotic supplements. - Address Yeast Overgrowth – If Candida is a factor, reduce simple carbs and consider natural antifungals like oregano oil or Saccharomyces boulardii.”

As part of my training (I am an intuitive healer) I studied the microbiome in depth in 2014. I work with it a lot. It comes up a great deal in clients sessions. I remember on the training course, we learnt how the microbiome outnumbers human cells by 10:1... so in the break I picked up a cookie and said to the instructor "who is in charge of me wanting this cookie?" and she nodded "exactly" she said. She never mentioned in class how it dictates so much... but I got it.
What supplements do you love to love?
And what do they do for you? Are there any you love to hate? None of this is medical advice, just conversation :) Here are a few of my go to-s, not daily, but as needed…. Black Cohosh to support my estrogen levels in perimenopause Vitamin D and Natural Vitamin C, from Amla and plants, for immunity and general health Magnesium and triphala, probiotics, and occasional Wormwood for digestive system support and Smooth Moving BMs Blood Builder Iron supplement since I tend towards anemia Gymnema and Berberine for blood sugar balance support St John’s Wort, Ashwagandha, and healthy mushrooms for mental health support I don’t hate any supplements but I did try L-Theanine once, it’s supposed to help with stress relief, and it made me super anxious!
