Saddle Setback
Hey, I'm a heavier rider 95kg and in a awkward situation where I feel more comfortable having my saddle slightly more forward to open the hip angle and get around the front of the pedal stroke, but get a lot of weight on my hands. Moving the saddle back I feel like I'm slightly reaching foward with my foot at the 3oclock position, and maybe sliding forward on the saddle, but the pressure is less on my hands. 70mm cranks, but I also have a long-standing knee pain, so conscious I don't want to be too far forward and close the knee angle. I was getting some saddle sores but recently switched to the SLR Boost which seems narrower at the nose and a lot more comfortable. Is this something I'd just need to adjust to and force myself to sit further back?

I am 104kg (I think - 230lbs) 6'4" tall. All my fits have had longer stems and seat about centered on the knee. For about 9 years, I have found myself moving my seat forward to raise my chest from the professional fit results. I had a fit by a physical therapist last year due to knee pain. He sugested I move my stem from a 110 to 90mm to help with the IT band and knee pain then move back to my 110mm when pain is gone. The issue was stem, not saddle related. Actually IT band at the hip. I have since decided 100mm inverted with 6° of rise is my new stem length for comfort. This took a lot of miles to do my self. Could have gone to the fit studio and figured it oout in a 1 hour follow up session. Hope this is helpfull
Indoor specific saddle
I find myself getting sore after about 20k - any saddles I’ve tried are similar. I think it’s down to my position being more upright when indoor riding. Anyone use a different saddle for indoor riding and offer some suggestions for ones that suit a more upright position

This response is based on you needing to match the two bikes and not accept the less than optumal position on the indoor bike. Last year I went out of my way with a laser, 4ft level, & metric tape measure to make my indoor bike match my ourdoor bike fit. I had the measurements from the fit, however, because the frames were so different, I had to use tools to determine what stem & fore aft was needed. I also bought the same seat (lower level same shape, $400 is too much for an indoor bike). It made a huge improvement. I also helped a few others with these tools for the same, then bought used stems to match the position. They now suffer less on four hour trainer rides. There is a tool called duplifit (https://archdesignwork.com/products/dupli-fit) that helps, but in my opinion, a long level, self leveling laser, & metric tape gives you numbers to reference instead of a point in space.
Fore or Aft of KOPS?
I know most fitters today no longer subscribe to using KOPS for saddle fore/aft. I know everyone is different, but is it more likely that being in front of KOPS is better, or being behind it? Is the "balance/hands-off" test a better way to determine fore/aft? Or, is there some other trick fitters use?

This is a great topic. I look forward to the responses. I have found KOPS is how I ended up after being fit each of four fits, however, I am more comfortable with knee in front of spindle. I find my self resisting moving the saddle forward.

I have found that most webinars fall during the times I ride. I would typically end up watching the video after.
