Sandhill crane
Went for a bike ride last night with my daughter and we had to stop and watch this Sandhill crane for a bit 😊 We have mudflats here instead of beaches, and we can't walk out there at high tide like this, but the birds can.

@Jeanne Dickman thank you!!
Some Yarrow, some mysteries, no frost!
Finally down to one patch of snow in the yard! Yarrow grows naturally by our porch, along with a mystery plant (last pic) that loves growing in between the bricks. I think those are the white mint roots in my in-ground bed. Mystery grass or onions by the rooster. It looks like the pansies self seeded in a few planters & about the yard too. 😍 Some folks wait for Memorial day to plant outside, but we got started last weekend!! My son helped me start digging out the bed (not pictured) with strawberries & grass. It's chock full of grass roots! We transferred some of the grass & strawberries and plan to replace them with sunflowers & zucchini & other flowers. I've also got some peas outside in containers now and just planted a few kale & broccoli sprouts in some beds, & sprinkled some dill seeds in some beds. 😁 Love this time of year!! 💚

Field Flower Press recommendations
I bought a new field (pocket) flower press from Ace hardware last weekend. It's a cute, compact accordion style press and it came with extra sheets of paper to press findings in between the accordion. As I tested filling up the press, I discovered that it actually wouldn't close with all the sheets in!! How am I supposed to be out and about and not use the entire press in one go? 🤨🤨 So, I cut a slit in the back of the book/press, and now it can close when it is completely full. I recommend doing this with a knife or exacto before using your field flower press. 🫡🌸☘️

My house has a ton of this growing in random areas! It really does love poor soil. The first year here, I was waiting for the petals to grow and nothing grew but it still smelled so good, I knew it was chamomile! Chamomile is one of my favorite smells and I like to harvest it and Pineapple Chamomile just to smell it later when I need a happy thought. 😊

LIVE and DIRECT from my hammock beneath the front yard Eagleston Holly tree. The Honey Bees are visiting the blossoms and creating a healing hum of their combined buzzing.

I'm a big city punk who loves being out in nature so of course I made my way to Alaska. I love to make, grow, and learn to things! And reading!
