Foraging journal catch up 2/12/26
Life snuck up on me and zapped my strength and energy this week. Maybe the pressure changes make everything worse? I don't know and it's been interesting to record it each day I can, along with the sun & moon rises & sets. 🌞🌚 Moose sightings are always fun with a good snowfall. Moose at school drop off? Not so fun. Brought out the mama bear in me! 🐻 There's an alien plant in my pothos- need to identify it. Seedlings are doing good and we have some new sprouts. How late is too late to be out with your snowblower? πŸ€”πŸ˜‚

Feb 10 journal challenge
We are finally thawing out here πŸ˜‚ and I can't be more thankful. Saw this fine display of natural seed dispersal of my merigold bush lol and couldn't help but share it with my punk friends ❀️

Journal entry - 2/6
Many many birds showed up yesterday! They must have known I was missing them something fierce and decided to come back earlier than expected. I'm a bit nervous though because it's been terribly cold for awhile and it's going to snow again this weekend. I think I'll leave them some snacks for the storm

@Melanie Weird whoa 🀯 I am definitely going to be paying attention to the amount of those dee dees now!! Would us foragers be a big animal but small threat to them? I hope so lol πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ₯°
Action step: about my journal
About my foraging journal: I went on a hunt in my art supplies and abandoned sketchbooks. I'm afraid to commit to a brand new book and give up on it, so I figured picking up one that was already given up on once would solve that problem/brain block of mine. I'm using a notebook cover my mom or aunt sent me with this used sketchbook that lost its cover. It's cute and soft. I just started numbering the pages today. My writing tools are a favorite pen & pencil & pastels inside a cute caterpillar that I can't forget about. Added a new pencil to it today, one I can write with. I'm keeping my journal & caterpillar either in my work bag or on my dining room table so I remember to use it. For my garden plans, I use a larger notepad of grid paper. And I only just discovered that the backside is lined! 😱 I typically rip the pages out as I go and keep them in my garden bag. Hoping to hear about everyone else's journals! 😊🌞

Foraging journal entry 2/7/26
Today's entry was more reflective, jotting down my current projects and the things I need to do next to complete them. I don't like how I can see through to the previous page, so I'm starting to sketch things out on the left pages. It's nice to have the time to sit and write and watch the birds. πŸ˜ŠπŸ¦β€β¬›πŸ¦

@Ali S yes! I'm a bit scatter brained and my projects are also scattered about the house. I think using some sort of page marker for the list page would be handy to come back to it quickly. πŸ€”

I'm a big city punk who loves being out in nature so of course I made my way to Alaska. I love to make, grow, and learn to things! And reading!
